It’s been two years since Rick and Morty Season 7 aired its last episode, and the wait for Season 8 is almost over. Adult Swim released an early teaser for the show’s eighth installment, which will air in just a few months. As expected, the preview continues to make Jerry the butt of the joke and him being ignored by his family.

The video starts with Jerry singing a Christmas jingle, but with the lyrics changed for an Easter setting. Unfortunately, he’s the only one who caught the mid-year festive bug, as everyone in the Smith family would rather be doing other things. He last approaches Rick, who he didn’t bother asking after seeing him disposing of a slime creature down the garage sink. This preview may be connected to the teaser released a few days ago, where Rick and Morty visit a location that treats the Easter holiday like a cult and learn that there are aliens that “care so much about a holiday they don’t care about.”

In 2024, it was announced that Rick and Morty secured two more seasons, meaning it can fulfill its original 70-episode order from 2018, despite the controversies and allegations against its creator, Justin Roiland. Ever since Rick and Morty Season 7 aired in 2023, the show has received a mixed reception from fans and critics alike, generating an average critics’ score of 77% and an average audience score of 50% on Rotten Tomatoes.

What Happened During ‘Rick and Morty’ Season 7?

Season 7 of Rick and Morty featured more wacky adventures with this grandfather-and-son duo and the return of some familiar faces, such as Mr. Poopybutthole, The President, Unity, and Dr. Wong. Season 7 also featured the conclusion of the Rick Prime story arc, which aired mid-season, where Rick, Morty, and Evil Morty face this Rick Sanchez variant, defeating him but left unsatisfied with the result of his revenge.

Season 7 ends with an emotional episode in which Morty decides to face the “Fear Hole,” where participants face their fears. This leads to Rick learning the hole’s manifestation powers and how it can bring back people from the past, like his late wife, Diane. The episode ends with Morty successfully conquering the hole, addressing his fear of Rick abandoning him, and showing a hint of Rick deciding to move on from Diane after learning what the hole can do and celebrating his grandson’s success.

Rick and Morty Season 8 premieres on May 25, 2025 on Adult Swim. Follow Collider to keep up to date with the latest updates.
