After eight episodes, Denise Richards and Her Wild Things has come and gone. Airing following The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 14, the series marked Denise Richards‘ grand return to Bravo following her Season 10 departure. The series captured Richards’ family life through a more comedic lens. The half-hour episode introduced her to fans in a way that neither The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills nor Denise Richards: It’s Complicated quite did. It’s a new chapter.

Coming into The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Denise Richards entered a well-oiled machine featuring a very dominating group of women who have established themselves as top-tier reality stars. While Richards had tried her hand at reality television prior, she came onto the show as a big star. She tried to balance being herself with being a Housewife, and what occurred was likely not what she wanted. Sure, she had her iconic memeable moments, but The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills painted her in a negative light. But that’s all changed. Denise Richards and Her Wild Things has proudly redeemed her in an exceptional way. Let’s celebrate the new reality star version of Denise Richards.

Denise Richards Had a Rough Go on ‘RHOBH’

If it’s possible to further endear us to Denise Richards, this new series was it. Prior to her entry into her solo venture on Bravo, Denise Richards was best known for wild moments. Between causing a scene when called out for wearing her pink furry jacket upside down, a falling out with Lisa Rinna, and, of course, “Bravo Bravo f-ing Bravo,” Denise Richards was unable to truly showcase her authentic side without the flurry of chaos. While fans loved some of the biggest moments from her highlight reel, it clearly took a toll on her.

A major difference between the two shows was how and what she presented on screen. On The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Richards brought her fiancé-turned-husband, Aaron Phypers, onto the show. They were even wed on screen in record time. But even so, their relationship wasn’t featured as heavily as same as some other pairs on the show. Additionally, like many other women on other franchises, her kids were off limits. Because of the topics of discussion during various group meals, Denise, like Garcelle Beauvais, didn’t feel comfortable bringing her kids around. Of course, the other women took this way too personally, and a major incident occurred. It caused a massive rift between her and Erika Jayne when Phypers interjected into the conversation. From there, it was a downward spiral when she was accused of hooking up with Brandi Glanville. When she did return for some guest appearances for Season 13, any story that was unresolved remained as such, and that was a wrap on Denise Richards. That is, until E!, then Bravo, was ready to take a chance on the star again. Give her her own spotlight, and they’ll get the Denise Richards we deserved on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The early 2000s are so back.

New and Old Stories Shine on ‘Denise Richards and Her Wild Things’

In the span of eight episodes, Denise Richards and Her Wild Things not only started new and exciting storylines but also allowed her to continue or close other chapters strongly. Fans were quite eager when the trailer dropped to see that Erika Jayne was going to appear on the series. Would it result in a massive blowup or a final resolution? Luckily for them, without any outside distractions, the pair was able to have a civil meal and level with one another. Their ability to reconcile over years of animosity over a simple misunderstanding allowed viewers to see something that likely would not have occurred in the other series.

A topic that was always there but rarely discussed on RHOBH was her high-profile marriage and divorce from Charlie Sheen. Again, when fans saw that he would be making an appearance on Denise Richards and Her Wild Things, it created immense buzz. They’re rarely ever mentioned in the same sentence without previous drama being attached. So, how are these co-parents in the real world? Joining their daughter, Lola Sheen, at lunch, viewers were able to see how they are living their own separate lives, while still existing in the same universe for their kids. Richards and Sheen, who revealed he was begged to appear on RHOBH, were able to show how they can parent together, before getting to the deep stuff about the pain from their relationship timeline. Of course, we know how messy their breakup was, time heals all wounds, and both stars were shown in a new light.

Continuing with this, the best part of Denise Richards and Her Wild Things is watching her beautiful relationship with Aaron Phypers and mother to Sami, Lola Sheen, and Eloise Richards. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has been able to showcase some of the women and their families, but that’s not the focus. Here it is. By opening up Richards’ world, it exposes that even with her eccentricities, she’s a loving mom who just wants the best for her kids. She wants to see her own two kids reconcile over petty drama. She is eager to see her daughters grow, even joining OnlyFans in solidarity with her daughter, Sami. And then there is Eloise. Her adopted daughter, who was diagnosed with a deletion in chromosome 8, is her pride and joy. Watching her build up her daughter was one of the shining moments of the series. The love is real. Because the series can take the time to have these meaningful moments in a manner that RHOBH could, the real Denise Richards is elevated. With so many stories to tell, if a second season is ordered, it’s only going to make us love Denise Richards even more.
