After wrapping up production on The Conjuring: Last Rites, director Michael Chaves has found his next directorial project in the form of the Yeti movie. The project has no target release date of official cast yet.

What are the new details for The Conjuring: Last Rites director’s Yeti movie?

Yeti was originally set up at Sony Pictures. However, producer Jon Silk (It, White Boy Rick) moved the survival thriller movie to Netflix after joining the streamer as one of its film executives. Prior to moving to Netflix, Sony Pictures and Picturestart had teamed up to acquire the rights to Peter Gaffney’s movie spec script. At the moment, it’s unknown if Picturestart would still be producing the project.

“The movie takes place deep in the mountains, where an avalanche unleashes something primeval from the glacial ice. The story follows a father and his daughter who must fight to survive a merciless predator that blends in with the snow,” reads the synopsis.

This marks the first-non Conjuring Universe movie that Chaves will be directing, after six years since The Curse of La Llorona, which served as his feature-length directorial debut. The 2019 movie earned a worldwide gross of $123 million at the box office against a reported budget around $9 million. After La Llorona, he was also tapped to helm 2021’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and 2023’s The Nun. His upcoming project for The Conjuring Universe is The Conjuring: Last Rites, which is expected to wrap up Ed and Lorraine Warren’s stories.
