Eli’s Story About Gideon’s Namesake Hints He’ll Be The One Who Successfully Takes Over The Church

Based On The Biblical Gideon

In “Interlude IV,” Amber and Jesse are preparing for the birth of Gideon Gemstone, Skyler Gisondo’s character in the main The Righteous Gemstones timeline. In one scene, the young couple announces to the Gemstone family their first-born child’s name: Stallone. The Gemstone family doesn’t love the Stallone name, although Jesse seems pretty set on it. However, a later conversation between Eli and Jesse changes Jesse’s mind, with Eli telling Jesse the story of the Biblical character Gideon.

The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 Episode 5 Ending Explained: Who Threw That Brick At Lori & Eli?

The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 5 is finally here, and here is what happens at the end, including who threw the brick at Eli and Lori.

In the Bible, Gideon’s story is told in the Book of Judges. Gideon was a prophet and military leader who, under God’s instruction, led an army of 300 Israelites to victory against a much larger army of Midianites. The Israelites then asked Gideon to become their king, with him refusing and telling them to follow God as their only leader. Gideon’s rise to the head of Gemstone Ministries would parallel the Biblical Gideon’s rise to leadership, with The Righteous Gemstones character putting aside the pride and vanity of the rest of his family and truly pointing his people to God.

Eli Has Already Been Mentoring Gideon To Help Him Take Over The Gemstones’ Empire

Eli Sees The Potential In Him

Gideon taking over Gemstone Ministries wouldn’t be surprising, as it seems that Eli has already taken notice of his potential. After the end of The Righteous Gemstones season 3, Gideon is now looking for mentorship on his path to becoming a pastor. One of the biggest storylines in The Righteous Gemstones season 4 sees Eli and Jesse feuding over who will be Gideon’s mentor, with Gideon seemingly enjoying the advice that he is getting from Eli much more.

Eli seems to be more invested in Gideon’s preaching abilities than he ever was in Jesse’s. Gideon also seems to be sincerely interested in preaching. Gideon can be seen preaching a sermon to a crowd of bored senior adults, something that shows his pride is not getting in the way. These are things that Gideon may have learned from Eli, and while it may upset Jesse, this is obviously the best path forward for Gideon.

Gideon Could Become A Much Better Leader At The Church Than Jesse, Judy, Or Kelvin

He Is Much Better Suited For It

Although Gideon is young, he has the potential to be a much better leader of Gemstone Ministries than Jesse, Judy, or Kelvin are. Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin all have massive flaws. Their pride, anger, vanity, and more has caused them to make Gemstone Ministries more about themselves than God. Although they are in charge of the church now, they are still pulling off schemes and using the church to push forward their own agendas, which is a major problem.

The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 Is Already Repeating Season 3’s Biggest Villain Problem

The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 4 ignored the biggest episode 3 cliffhanger, continuing a major problem from the previous season.

Meanwhile, Gideon’s personality is much better suited to leading the church. Gideon has never expressed interest in wanting to run Gemstone Ministries, something that makes him the best pick. While Gideon started out as a criminal, he learned his lesson after the events of The Righteous Gemstones season 1 and has truly changed as a person. Gideon’s sincere interest in preaching, humbleness, and demonstrated leadership abilities means that he could make the perfect head of Gemstone Ministries after The Righteous Gemstones season 4.
