The 1923 Season 2 has only seven episodes on Paramount+, however, a recent Apple TV+ listing of Episode 8 has seemingly left fans confused. The Western drama series follows the Dutton family as they face numerous challenges in the light of Western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. With the series having ended on its original streaming service, viewers are curious to know why Apple TV+ had another episode listed. Here’s all you need to know about it.

Is there a 1923 Season 2 Episode 8 available to watch on Apple TV+?

No, the Apple TV+ listing of 1923 Season 2 Episode 8 appears to be an error.

The 1923 Season 2 was originally planned for 8 episodes, but it was ultimately reduced by an episode. As a result, Apple TV+ accidentally listed Episode 8, which appears to have a 54-minute runtime, as per the Reddit post linked below. Here, Episode 8 features a very generic series description and an episode title that reads, “208.” However, upon clicking the title, the service ultimately plays the two-hour-long finale, aka Episode 7. This suggests the platform is still using the original episode format and hasn’t updated its title to reflect the long finale.

Nevertheless, fans need not worry, as the series concluded with Episode 7, titled “A Dream and a Memory,” which premiered on April 6, 2025. However, it remains undisclosed why the series didn’t split the finale into two episodes. Many fans speculated that it might be because the showrunners might have wanted the finale to be the length of a movie, to provide a thrill in one episode instead of making the audience wait for another week.

However, some fans wanted to experience some surprising events unfold before the season finale, and hence wanted an Episode 8. In the above Reddit post, viewers have speculated other reasons for the series ditching its eight-episode format.

One user said, “Season 2 was meant to originally have 8 episodes, but Paramount didn’t want to pay the actors extra for another episode so they combined episodes 7 and 8 into one episode to save money. That’s it.”

Others expressed their thoughts that it might be a creative way to showcase further events of the story. Sadly, it doesn’t happen to be the case, given Episode 8 listing on Apple TV+ is likely a glitch and not a surprise for viewers.
