Blood of My Blood’ Sets Its Release Date With New Romantic Images -

As Outlander fans around the globe shed tears and prepare to say farewell to the characters they’ve come to know and love over an incredibly successful (almost) eight season-run, STARZ is already working hard to dry those weepy eyes. Leading the charge into new and uncharted territory, the network announced today that the highly-anticipated prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, will officially arrive on Friday, August 8. But that’s not all. In addition to the premiere date, STARZ has also dropped some new artwork showcasing the two couples at the center of the story.

Both of the images in today’s reveal see the respective couples sticking closely to one another. Although their faces are absent from the shots, the longing and love between each pair can be felt by the viewer. With a gorgeous open field in front of them, Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) intertwines hands with Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), leaning against his side and looking up at him with her long red hair falling down her back. With a very different background, Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) embrace one another in front of a beautiful stone home. Above them, an aircraft soars through the sky, with Henry’s military outfit pointing to his sudden departure for WWI.

Whether you’ve read all the books in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series or haven’t so much as watched a single episode of the flagship series, STARZ promises to set up the offshoot as its own thing. While, yes, there will be fun Easter eggs and pieces of origin story for longtime fans to catch during the debut season, it will also welcome newcomers with open arms. The series will move from 18th-century Scotland to the harrowing battlefields of WWI, where audiences will follow two brand-new love stories in the Outlander universe. Steeped with plenty of passion, drama, and character development, this series is for the true romantics out there.

Along with our leading couples, Outlander: Blood of My Blood will also feature an ensemble that includes Tony Curran (Mary & George), Séamus McLean Ross (Payback), Sam Retford (Ackley Bridge), Rory Alexander (Dark Windows), Harry Eaton (Eastenders), and Conor MacNeill (In the Land of Saints and Sinners). Returning to his Outlander post as showrunner and executive producer is Matthew B. Roberts, who will be joined in the latter by Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg.
