Fans eagerly anticipating the return of Arcane skins on Fortnite‘s item shop should throw all their hopes away. This is because an official, yet disappointing, update related to the same has been offered by Riot Games’ co-founder Marc Merrill. The Arcane skins, which included Vi and Jinx from the Netflix show, first debuted almost three years ago to coincide with the inaugural season’s release. However, they were taken out of the item shop not long after.

Here is what Riot Games had to say about the Arcane skins’ return to Fortnite’s item shop.

Riot Games confirms Arcane skins won’t return to Fortnite item shop

Marc Merrill, Riot Games’ co-founder, recently put out a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), confirming that the Arcane skins weren’t coming back to Fortnite’s item shop for the “foreseeable future.” He also mentioned that Riot and Epic Games had conversations about what they could possibly do for future collaborations.

Merrill also explained why the Arcane skins weren’t returning. He said that he and Riot Games were unable to “find the right fit” to bring them back.

However, Merrill acknowledged the immense fan love for the skins. He expressed appreciation for the care and effort fans put into petitioning for their return. Merrill then offered a tiny glimmer of hope. He noted that if Riot Games’ plans regarding the Arcane skins’ return changed in the future, he would inform fans.

Fans who were anticipating the return of the Arcane skins to Fortnite’s item shop were hit with an unfortunate scoop last year. In December 2024, notable Fortnite leaker Shiina put out a tweet claiming that fans may never see the skins again. This tweet reportedly included a quote from a Riot Games co-founder regarding the status of the Arcane skins’ return to Fortnite’s item shop. The leaker credited user @Bamplbee2 for the scoop.

“It’s on us (that they don’t return),” the quote read. “We only did it for the original launch of Arcane.”

Shiina then uploaded a follow-up tweet, which included a quote indicating a change in the co-founder’s stance. The co-founder was reportedly quoted saying, “I will talk to the team about Arcane skins in Fortnite, not sure what we can do if anything, but I will look into it.” This scoop was also attributed to @Bamplbee2.
