China Is Ready to Take Over Anime, And a New Show This Summer Will Prove It

Summer is gearing up with a ton of new, exciting releases for anime, with Dandadan, Fire Force, and Kaiju No. 8 looking to make a return, but that’s not all this season has prepared. China has been looking to get into the anime market, coming out with extraordinary projects like To Be Hero X after years of development to wide acclaim. The country is nowhere near done yet, as its latest donghua has finally received clearance to debut in June.
Lord of the Mysteries is an upcoming donghua adapted from the web novel under the same name, written by Cuttlefish That Loves Diving. The story follows Zhou Mingrui as he wakes up in the body of a man named Klein Moretti, who lives in an alternative-Victorian world with steam engine machinery and a peculiar ritual surrounding potions, divinations, pathways, and Tarot Cards that grant people the ability to become Beyonders. Following the path of the Fool, Zhou’s journey through this new world is shrouded in mystery as he uncovers the secrets of his arrival.
Lord of The Mysteries Is In the Clear, Set for June 2025
China’s Newest Donghua Will Take the Anime World By Storm
After encountering a temporary setback regarding some of its later episodes, Lord of the Mysteries has been signed off to debut this summer. Chinese censorship normally regulates the content that’s being produced, and due to the donghua’s content being a bit a tad graphic, the later episodes were under review for much longer. But now it’s in the clear, indicating that the season is going to be one to watch for both new and old fans of the original web novel.
