I Highly Suggest Watching ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Before ‘Vanderpump Rules’ To See The Real Lisa Vanderpump

If you are unfamiliar with the world of reality television and are looking to spice things up and dive in, I have the perfect suggestion for you. There are so many great and entertaining reality shows, but I would start with Bravo. There are countless reality shows on Bravo that I love watching, but specifically, anything related to The Housewives franchise, such as The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills or Vanderpump Rules.
As an avid fan of both of these shows, I would highly suggest watching The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills before you jump into the chaos that is Vanderpump Rules. Not only did this Housewives franchise come first, but it introduced us to one of the most famous women to come out of the Housewives franchise: Lisa Vanderpump. Lisa was a main Housewife who ventured beyond the franchise into her own show all about her business and crazy staff: Vanderpump Rules. Although I am aware that you can watch either show in any particular order, I would suggest watching RHOBH first, because it highlights the real Lisa Vanderpump.
Lisa Vanderpump’s True Colors Shine In ‘RHOBH’
I believe that Lisa hides behind a mask throughout Vanderpump Rules. When she first started on RHOBH, her true colors shined. Lisa was manipulative, conniving, and insecure. Throughout the early seasons of RHOBH, Lisa was not a fan of her best friend at the time, Kyle Richards, getting close with another cast-mate of theirs, Taylor Armstrong. Instead of all three women building each other up and creating what could have been an iconic trio, Lisa’s insecurities came out, and that was quite obvious when she consistently told Taylor, to her face, that she did not like her or consider her a friend. Lisa went on to try and manipulate Kyle into disliking Taylor, and that is not the only time Lisa has used her manipulation skills in the show.
In Season 2, Brandi Glanville was introduced. As the show goes on and the seasons continue, I think it becomes quite obvious that Lisa used Brandi as her mouthpiece, almost like Brandi was a puppet and Lisa was her puppeteer, spewing certain gossip to Brandi and then sitting back and watching the seed she planted grow. Now, if you watch Vanderpump Rules before any of this, you would never expect any of this because Lisa is entirely different in this show. In Vanderpump Rules, Lisa comes off as this cool, laid-back, motherly figure to her servers. It is certainly unexpected to see a woman who hangs out, jokes with, and gives major advice to her staff, is the same woman in RHOBH who does not even have the decency to give her condolences to a cast-mate while going through a nasty divorce in Season 3, just because Lisa did not like her.

‘Vanderpump Rules’ Shows a Whole Different Version of Lisa
I think that watching RHOBH before Vanderpump Rules is a real eye-opener as well. You will see that Lisa just wanted to surround herself with a group where she was seen as the most powerful. Throughout her time on RHOBH, Lisa definitely hid her true feelings towards certain people and situations behind sarcastic humor and hurtful jokes. Lisa could get things off her chest with a “joke”, and belittle people in a “joking manner”, even when it was painfully opposite that she meant what she said. In Vanderpump Rules, Lisa is in charge. She gets to boss her employees around, say whatever she wants to say and treat them however she thinks they deserve to be treated because she is aware that she can get away with it. In RHOBH, Lisa hardly ever got away scot-free because the women fought back and retaliated. Her employees at her restaurant, SUR, would never dream of talking or fighting back because they were in fear of being fired from one of the hottest bars in West Hollywood. I think Lisa took that to her advantage. I think all of this is evident if you watch RHOBH beforehand.
I think that both RHOBH and Vanderpump Rules are amazingly entertaining shows, and they both share one common denominator: Lisa Vanderpump. I believe that, although there is no rule saying you have to watch one before the other, you would benefit from watching RHOBH first, because you would not be fooled by the Lisa Vanderpump that you see in Vanderpump Rules.
