A man without many contemporaries in terms of presence and aura, Reigns sat atop the WWE Universe for a record-setting 1,316 days, the fourth-longest reign in WWE history behind Hulk Hogan, Bob Backlund, and Bruno Sammartino.
With only a month and change left before he turns 40, Roman Reigns has conquered the entire landscape of professional wrestling. In a new interview with Vanity Fair, he gave an update on his future, and how soon his in-ring career may come to an end.

For the better part of a decade, Roman Reigns has been the most dominant force in WWE, and during his record-setting championship reign, he ran through every opponent in the locker room. Although Reigns’ story, and that of the Bloodline, could continue in perpetuity, Reigns told Vanity Fair that he was ready to pack it up sooner rather than later.
“After I finish the contract that I’m in, we probably got another year or two max. Then it’s time to take on a less physical form of entertainment.”
Reigns has long been rumored to have taken an eye to Hollywood, following in the footsteps of other WWE Superstars like The Rock, John Cena, and Dave Bautista, but this is the first time he’s publicly acknowledged a step into another form of entertainment, and the first time we’ve heard that he may be looking to get out of wrestling.

There’s nothing wrong with admitting and acknowledging that times are changing, and Reigns wanting to take a next step into another career or another path is a reasonable one. Whether it’s spending more time with his family or preserving what’s left of his body, Reigns is making the decision for himself while he still can, and before that choice is taken away from him.
