With a wealth of experience as a performer and voice actor, Mr. Ring-a-Ding is in good hands with Cumming. Alan Cumming Already Appeared In Doctor Who
This Is Not Alan Cumming’s First Outing In The Long-Standing Sci-Fi Series
However, this is not Cumming’s first time coming to Doctor Who. In 2018, while the show was still being run by the previous showrunner, Chris Chibnall, Cumming was brought in to play King James opposite Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor. In this role, Cumming led a group of angry and scared villagers against several women suspected of being witches, and conducted deadly tests to prove whether they were innocent, or if they were actually demonic creatures cursing the locals and casting dangerous spells.
Cumming excelled in the role, and he proved just the right level of intensity, mischievousness, and danger. Meanwhile, he also put his comedy skills to good use to make the episode feel a little lighter, while still staying faithful to the period setting. Considering his familiarity with the show, it will be interesting to see him return and step into a very different role where he can allow his imagination to roam more freely. Rather than being restricted by the bonds of playing a historical figure, Alan Cumming now has an opportunity to make a new character completely his own, adjusting his voice and intensity as it may suit the part in the Doctor Who adventure.
