The animated LEGO Star Wars series, Rebuild the Galaxy, is adding another two key pieces. At Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, Japan, today, Lucasfilm announced that a new special is on its way: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past. The cast for that special will include an important part of Star Wars animation history, and a deep cut from the long history of Star Wars comic books. Ashley Eckstein will reprise her animated role of Ahsoka Tano (in Lego BrickHeadz form), and Ben Schwartz is expected to play the rascally alien rabbit Jaxxon.

The special will continue the story of the Rebuild the Galaxy miniseries, which centered around two nerf-herding brothers, Sig (Gaten Matarazzo) and Dev Greebling (Tony Revolori) who find an ancient artifact, the Cornerstone. Sig gets hurled into a Bizarro World version of the Star Wars universe, where Tattooine is a water world, Jar Jar Binks (Ahmed Best) and Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) are ruthless Sith Lords, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is a hippie, and Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) is “The Landolorian.” The poster doesn’t offer too many hints at what will happen, but it does feature an enormous Chewbacca, Ahsoka as a Funko Pop-esque BrickHeadz figure, and Jaxxon as a standard Lego minifigure, along with series hero Sig. All episodes of Pieces of the Past will debut on Disney+ on September 19, 2025.

Who Is Jaxxon?

A six-foot-tall, green-furred, rabbit-like alien, Jaxxon was created by comics legends Roy Thomas and Howard Chaykin in the eighth issue of Marvel’s Star Wars comic book in 1977. Modeled after Bugs Bunny, he was a mercenary and smuggler who banded together with Han Solo to defend a peaceful village from the pirate Crimson Jack in a story inspired by Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven. He became a member of the series’ regular cast, but departed after issue #16, never to be seen again…at the request of George Lucas, who reportedly hated the character. The character faded into obscurity, although he was referenced in an Easter egg in an episode of The Clone Wars; a rabbit-like skeleton wearing a red spacesuit similar to Jaxxon’s was found in a derelict spaceship. However, Jaxxon has found his way back into canon, as he appeared in IDW’s kid-aimed Star Wars Adventures comic books. The character even got his own Black Series action figure in recent years.

Ben Schwartz is no stranger to voicing hyperactive furry creatures: as of late, he’s been burning up the box office as Sonic the Hedgehog. It isn’t his first journey to the Star Wars galaxy, either: he helped provide vocal effects for BB-8 in The Force Awakens, and voiced the droid TAY-0 on an episode of The Bad Batch.

Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past will be released on Disney+ on September 19, 2025. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
