Born Again’ Writer Just Confirmed a Major Details About Matt and Heather’s Relationship in Season 2

The first season of Daredevil: Born Again has come and gone, but creatives from the series are still providing insight about where the show is heading in Season 2. The Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 finale saw Matt (Charlie Cox) reunite with Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) to take on Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) AVTF (Anti-Vigilante Task Force). But things don’t go as planned when Fisk gets the upper hand, and the season ultimately ends with Matt stepping back into the shadows. Matt’s girlfriend, Heather (Margarita Levieva), also accepts a position as Fisk’s mental health czar in his new administration, and during a recent interview with TV Insider, Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane confirmed this has left a split between them heading into Season 2:
“We have a character like Daniel Blake [Michael Gandolfini] who’s under the wing of Fisk, which has got to be an uncomfortable place to be, we have a journalist, BB (Genneya Walton), who are all inside the administration, you have an ex of Matt, Heather [Margarita Levieva], who’s now the mental health czar for this.”
Heather and Matt had been growing apart following the Muse incident, but by the end of Season 1, it seemed they were both ready to move on from their relationship. Matt has a deep history with Karen, which is apparent from their electric reunion in the Season 1 finale, and it seems the former Nelson, Murdock, and Page coworkers are closer than Matt and Heather ever were. Matt also has Frank Castle to contend with on the Karen front — Matt even acknowledges how Frank’s heart rate rose whenever Karen entered the room — and while he may not be prone to admit it, Frank has always had a soft spot for Karen. She was the first person to ever look out for him in Daredevil Season 2, but she was also pursuing a relationship with Matt at the time.
What Do We Know About ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2?
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is already in production, and Marvel Studios Head of TV and Streaming Brad Winderbaum has already confirmed plans for it to be released early next year. Marvel is also working on a solo Punisher special centered around Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, but Vincent D’Onofrio disclosed in a recent interview that he isn’t sure if it will be connected to Born Again, or if it will be more similar to What If…? Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 could be the final Marvel project released before Avengers: Doomsday, but no characters from the show have been confirmed for a role in the 2026 film.
