We Don’t Want To See Mia Thornton on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’

Mia Thornton had one of the most tumultuous Real Housewives seasons to date in Potomac, as all her lies started piling atop one another and her co-stars held her feet to the fire during the reunion of the reality series. Mia’s lies about her and Gordon’s co-parenting arrangement spilled over and ended up incriminating her in front of the other ladies on the show and Andy Cohen. Fed up with Mia’s irresponsible and irrational behavior, Gizelle Bryant refused to allow her co-star to weasel out of taking accountability for promoting a frivolous paternity-driven storyline involving her son. Mia tried to deflect and challenge Gizelle’s claim that she was a bad mother, but instead of backing down, Gizelle doubled down and insisted Mia’s behavior was an inexcusable example of bad parenting. Mia tried her usual trick of dabbing fake tears, but the rest of the Potomac ladies and Andy remained silent, waiting for her to acknowledge her wrongdoing. Instead of relenting, Mia gathered her reunion gown and exited the stage mumbling expletives towards Gizelle under her breath.

Mia announced a few weeks later that, out of respect for her family, she had indeed made the decision to leave RHOP and instead was planning to focus on her family. Her canned announcement on social media was coupled with several pictures of her and her alleged ex-boyfriend Inc, with estranged husband Gordon nowhere to be seen. On the Monday after Easter 2025, Mia returned to social media, making three back-to-back posts of herself holding newspaper clippings highlighting the words, ‘COMING SOON’ in bold print with the location set for Atlanta. The caption stated, “With every new season comes a new beginning and I have some news to share. My family and I have made the decision to relocate to Atlanta, and with that, I will not be returning to The Real Housewives of Potomac next season. The past four seasons have been an unforgettable journey filled with growth, lessons and so many incredible memories. I want to thank Truly Original, Bravo, NBCUniversal and Andy Cohen for believing in me and giving me the space to share my story.” She went on to tease a new project in Atlanta, stating, “I don’t just make headlines – I make History. Atlanta, brace yourself. The empire has expanded. #legacyinthemaking. But she’s not cut out for Atlanta.

Andy commented, ‘Bravo to YOU’ with a heart emoji to which Mia quickly thanked him again for believing in her. Andy’s response coupled with Atlanta’s reputation for a never-ending supply of fabulous girls with impenetrable cliques has fans doubting Mia will have the intended impact in the peach state that she assumes. Mia’s on-again-off-again boyfriend, Inc, also known to syndicated radio audiences as Incognito, is known from Columbus, GA. For any other housewife a transfer could’ve been considered. Gizelle has been seen with several of the Atlanta housewives and would have no problem making the switch from DC/Potomac to Atlanta. Garcelle Beauvais quit RHOBH as part 3 of the finale wrapped and fans have voiced a desire to possibly see her in Atlanta, alongside her former modeling colleague Cynthia Bailey. Bravo’s Girls Trip series has coupled Housewives from various principal cities with others and the excitement of seeing fan favorites clash with villains from another season is always a highlight, so why not Mia?

Unlike Garcelle or Gizelle, Mia has earned a reputation of being a reckless liar, and a liability for the show. When Mia debuted on RHOP, she was allegedly pushing herself as the head of her husband, Gordon’s family businesses. According to Mia, she and Gordon owned numerous clinics around the country, but mainly in the southeast. She even went so far as to bring a camera crew as she cut a ribbon for a new facility, where she allegedly was the head chick in charge. Shortly after the photo-op with Mia cutting the grand opening ribbon, it was revealed that not only was Mia not in charge, but Gordon’s family had taken the necessary steps to have both Gordon and his wife Mia ousted from the family business. Mia blamed every piece of the fraudulent behavior on Gordon and immediately filed for divorce. Gordon was distraught but Mia’s co-stars and the RHOP fans saw through her actions. Until the rumors of misappropriation of funds with the business accounts, Mia had nothing but positive words to say about Gordon and their May-December relationship. After the money dried up, Mia felt compelled to share Gordon’s mental health diagnosis of bi-polar disorder, and he went on TMZ accusing her of being a gold-digger and alleging she’d been a serial cheater throughout their marriage.

Erika Jayne is A Great Example of a Successful Gold Digger

Being a gold-digger isn’t a negative quality for a Housewife, in fact, it’s almost a prerequisite for the show. It’s not the fact that she married a wealthy older man that makes Mia a horrible fit for Atlanta. RHOA’s Porsha Williams married Simon Guobadia in what most would categorize as an opportunistic marriage arrangement. Most of the cast of RHOBH have married much older, wealthier men and have been praised for it. RHOBH’s Erika Jayne may be the best example of a young woman who marries a much wealthier older man and then leaves him when the wealth is proven to be fraudulent and fans haven’t abandoned Erika. The problem with Mia is that she never stopped lying or hustling in the meantime. Erika grew up poor, married her rich husband and quickly adapted to the opulent lifestyle of the rich and famous. Porsha married Simon and immediately began traipsing around behind him to his native Nigeria, content to be an admired armpiece. Mia’s lowbrow behavior never quite adapted to being a woman of means, and instead she was always the odd man out in Potomac.

Cast against former beauty pageant queens Ashley Darby and Candiace Dillard Bassett, Mia stood out like an uncouth and uncultured sore thumb. Not even the grand dame Karen Huger could convince Mia to adapt a more cultured aesthetic during her four seasons on the show. Mia continued lying and exhibiting the type of behavior that most women abandon once they have secured the man with their desired bank account. Mia brought her former friends around and bragged about having threesomes with her husband on camera. In the past two seasons, she’s acknowledged being unfaithful to Gordon with her first love, Inc and attempted to make both men accept the terms of her presence.

Mia Would Be a Great Fit For An Upcoming Season of ‘Baddies’

Mia would be a better fit for Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, than the RHOA franchise. Her unhinged behavior would fall flat in Atlanta, where beauty is the most common commodity and influence requires a bit more decorum (not much) than Mia has the ability to fake. Mia’s lies on her husband, their wealth, her cast mates and the paternity of her child, have relegated her to a much lower brand of reality television that Bravo doesn’t service. If Mona Scott won’t consider her for Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, she may have luck reaching out to Lemuel Plummer at Zeus for Bad Girls Club or a similar type of show. She could probably get great ratings on an upcoming edition of Baddies Atlanta.
