We are now officially on the back of that long-awaited Titus Welliver backdoor pilot in CBS’ The Equalizer, and it sure didn’t disappoint. With action aplenty, a piercing emotional core, and Welliver proving his badass best once again, Episode 16 of Season 5, “Sins of the Father,” is one of the highlights of this fifth season. With that in mind, Episode 16, “Acceptance,” now has a particularly hard act to follow, especially seeing as The Equalizer Season 5 finale is now so close.

Queen Latifah’s Robyn McCall has certainly been put through her paces this season, with everything from being held hostage in a hospital to the hunt for buried treasure testing her legendary credentials. In next week’s episode, it looks like the former CIA operative will face yet another potentially life-altering mission, with an action-packed follow-up to the crossover antics of Easter weekend planned. This can be seen via the official sneak peek of the episode available below, which showcases that, quite literally, Episode 16, “Acceptance,” will be explosive as a bomb is planted in an important political place. The synopsis for the episode reads:

“When Dante’s brother seeks the team’s help to clear his client’s name in a shooting, they uncover a plot to bomb an international anti-terrorism conference; Delilah gets ready for prom and learns she has been accepted to UCLA.”

Is ‘The Equalizer’ a Success?

During a volatile time for television, becoming a success is paramount for longevity, although success can be measured using several different metrics. For The Equalizer, success has largely come via quantity over quality. That isn’t to say the series is bad by any means, but an audience score of 58% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes would suggest that many are underwhelmed by the procedural. Nevertheless, the television ratings don’t lie, with The Equalizer consistently pulling in many millions of viewers during a difficult time for network TV. The currently airing fifth season has continued to earn more than 3.7 million viewers each episode, making it one of the best-watched shows on CBS. However, when compared to previous seasons, especially the more than 20 million that tuned into the very first episode, a downwards trend in figures could provide worrying viewing for fans. How long will The Equalizer continue? Make sure to stay tuned to Collider to find out.

The Equalizer Season 5, Episode 17, will air on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates on your favorite shows.
