CBS Orders 2 New Shows, Cancels Poppa’s House & More

CBS has officially canceled the sitcom Poppa’s House and the reality competition show The Summit after one season. Both shows made their respective series debuts in 2024.
While The Summit has already wrapped up its 10-episode run last December, the series finale episode of Poppa’s House is still scheduled to air next week on Monday, April 28. The sitcom is led by Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr., with the former also serving as its creator and executive producer. It centers around a legendary talk radio host and his adult son who is trying to pursue his passion while being a responsible father and husband. As for The Summit, the reality show was hosted by Manu Bennett, with Kevin Lee, Michael Heyerman, Sharon Levy, and Tina Nicotera executive producing. It featured sixteen strangers embarking on a 14-day trek through the perilous New Zealand Alps to reach a distant peak.
What are the new shows coming to CBS?
In addition to the cancellation news, CBS has also ordered two new shows in the form of the workplace drama DMV and the police procedural drama Einstein. The new comedy series will be led by Harriett Dyer, Tim Meadows, Molly Kearney and Alex Tarrant. Meanwhile, the crime drama features Criminal Minds alum Matthew Gray Gubler and Alita: Battle Angel star Rosa Salazar.
“DMV is a single-camera comedy set at the place everyone dreads going most: the DMV; our quirky and lovable characters are making minimum wage, doing a thankless job where customers are annoyed before they even walk in the door; good thing they have each other,” reads the official logline.
“In the Einstein show, brilliant but directionless, the great grandson of Albert Einstein spends his days as a comfortably tenured professor until his bad boy antics land him in trouble with the law and he is pressed into service helping a local police detective solve her most puzzling cases,” reads the logline.
