The latest sneak peeks for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage‘s next episode puts Mandy (Emily Osment) under the spotlight. This young woman is given a harsh lesson regarding finances, which leads to a petty civil war between her and her father, Jim (Will Sasso), and Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones) caught in the crossfire. Meanwhile, Connor (Dougie Baldwin) is keeping a secret from his family.

In the episode, titled “TV Money”, Mandy begins to pay her father’s rent after discovering that she was described as “unappreciative.” Mandy points out that she works two jobs as a young mother, but Jim notes that she’s irresponsible with money. Meanwhile, Audrey accuses her husband of spoiling her rotten. However, this money problem became a petty argument as Jim wanted to return the money, and he felt guilty about keeping it. Meanwhile, Mandy is shocked that her father took it. On the other hand, Connor’s new girlfriend, Chloe (Kara Arena), needs a place to stay and asks if she can stay over for a few days. He accepts but under a few conditions as he’s not ready to introduce her to his mother.

‘The Big Bang Theory’ Franchise Has Addressed Financial Responsibility in Multiple Episodes

If this plotline sounds familiar, then it’s not déjà vu. The Big Bang Theory franchise has released a handful of episodes throughout its various shows that discuss money and financial responsibility. Each show showcases this complex topic in multiple ways that are not only relatable but also entertaining.

In The Big Bang Theory, Penny (Kaley Cuoco) is seen as a freeloader in the earlier seasons due to her job as an actress and a waitress at The Cheesecake Factory. In the Season 2 episode “The Financial Permeability,” Penny loans money from Sheldon (Jim Parsons) as she cannot pay rent. It wasn’t until the later seasons that Penny got a better-paying job, which led to more financial arguments between her and Leonard (Johnny Galecki).

This theme of monetary issues continues in Young Sheldon as the Cooper family tends to have issues with their budget, which tends to be a sore spot for arguments between Mary and George Sr. And unlike the original series, where getting a new job would have been a perfect solution, the spin-off notes how complex that is due to various conditions, such as moving to another city. Additionally, the family had to deal with the IRS when they fined the family for a mistake in their tax returns, which Sheldon was able to resolve eventually.

New episodes of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage air every Thursday on CBS and are available to stream on Paramount+
