This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

Lucky lottery winners will be selected to purchase a Nintendo Switch 2 through the company’s proprietary My Nintendo Shop, but updated information shows that those orders might not arrive on the console’s launch day, June 5. Switch 2 pre-orders have been a disaster so far in the United States, with retailer websites collapsing under the heavy traffic of hopeful customers, and this latest update from Nintendo is just the latest setback in the saga.

According to Nintendo‘s page on how to buy the Switch 2 (via Nintendo Life), an update has been provided regarding release-day delivery: Due to the very high demand, we will be working diligently to fulfill orders as product becomes available, but delivery by June 5 is not guaranteed.” This is for those who have registered to enter the My Nintendo Store lottery, the results of which are being announced May 8.

However, not everyone who has been chosen will receive their confirmation email on May 8. According to Nintendo, “Your invitation email [to purchase a Switch 2 from Nintendo] may arrive after the Nintendo Switch 2 launch. We’ll confirm your shipping date upon purchase.”
