Blade MCU Composer Talks Delays, Doubts It Will Happen

Flying Lotus has revealed that he had originally been tapped to write music for the MCU Blade movie.
Marvel initially announced that Mahershala Ali would star in a new Blade movie back at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. The movie has not yet come to fruition following numerous production delays. A release date for the film has not been set.
What did Flying Lotus say about the MCU Blade movie?
On X, rapper and record producer Flying Lotus shared a statement revealing that he had originally signed on to write music for Blade; however, he is no longer involved with the project and doubts that it will “come around again.”
I guess we are so far from it even being a possibility now but. Yeah I was signed on to write music for the new BLADE movie before it fell thru.

In addition to his music career, Flying Lotus directed the “Ozzy’s Dungeon” segment of V/H/S/99, which was released in 2022. He then directed Eiza González and Aaron Paul in the 2025 Ash movie, for which he also wrote the soundtrack.
Whether or not the Marvel Studios Blade movie will actually happen remains unclear at this time. Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider reported last month that Kevin Feige “has vowed to press on with the project.” The latest rumor suggests that Chad Stahelski may be eyed to take over directing duties on Blade, though this has not been officially confirmed at this time.
Additionally, actor Delroy Lindo, who has since departed the project, recently told Entertainment Weekly that the movie initially seemed “really exciting conceptually” and “exciting in terms of the character that was going to form,” but “for whatever reason, it just went off the rails.”
