$60 | Releases September 16
The 368-page hardcover book explores the galaxy of Starfield with a collection of concept art that helped define the visual design of the game. Inside, you’ll find art detailing the inner workings of the galaxy’s most powerful factions, galactic artifacts, and more, all accompanied by commentary from the game’s art team.
Set in the year 2330, Starfield featured what Bethesda referred to as a “NASA-punk” art direction, that blended realistic and scrappy themes together. This resulted in an overall style that was more grounded and relatable, compared to the more outlandish art direction taken by other games in this genre. One of the cool things here was that Bethesda wanted all of the hardware to look like it had evolved from current-day space technology.

Another art book worth checking out is the upcoming 20th Anniversary Retrospective at Amazon. Also published by Dark Horse, this is a two-book box set is filled with artwork and commentary on the fan-favorite action-adventure series. God of War: 20th Anniversary Retrospective releases July 8 for $100, and there’s also a luxurious Deluxe Edition for $181 (was $200). The standard version features artwork, behind-the-scenes materials, and exclusive interviews with key members of each game’s development team, and the Deluxe Edition comes with additional materials. Both versions have gilded page edges, ribbed spines, alternate cover art, and built-in ribbon bookmarks.
If you’d like to add more art books to your collection, Dark Horse has more to offer. The publisher has also released gorgeous hardcovers for games like Mass Effect, Halo Infinite, and The Last of Us Part 2 over the years, and recent releases include visual tours of games like Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Most of these books are on sale right now as well, and if you feel like spoiling yourself, there are some very nice deluxe editions that contain cool extras.
