The past is coming back to haunt Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Austin Stowell) in the season finale of NCIS: Origins. The first season of the prequel series to the long-running crime drama NCIS concludes Monday with Season 1, Episode 18, “Cecilia.” The consequences of Gibbs shooting and killing Pedro Hernandez in Mexico for the murders of Gibbs’ wife and daughter are rearing their ugly head. Both Lala Dominguez (Mariel Molino) and Mike Franks (Kyle Schmid) already know Gibbs’ dark secret, but Bernard “Randy” Randolf (Caleb Foote) is still currently in the dark. Collider is unveiling an exclusive sneak peek of the episode with a heated discussion that may lead to Randy being in the dark no longer.

Gibbs, Lala, and Franks are hiding out in the lower level of the NIS building, panicked over MP Lara Macy (Claire Berger) digging around the murder of Pedro Hernandez. When Franks tells Gibbs and Lala that the JAG source Macy has is good, it sends them into a frenzy of damage control, until Randy pops in over the intercom. When the trio are accidentally caught up in a lie, Randy rushes down, nosy as ever, to see what is going on after receiving a call from Macy. Will Randy be brought into the fold? Or will he be kept in the dark? Lala argues that Randy has a family, so the stakes her higher for him. But Franks insists that if Macy is going to question Randy, he shouldn’t be blindsided. Gibbs also argues that Lala was up when she eventually found out, because the secret had been kept from her.

The logline for “Cecilia” is as follows:

“When the murder of Pedro Hernandez is unearthed, Gibbs (Austin Stowell) faces a reckoning. But when he needs his team most, the loyalty of one is brought into question.”

‘NCIS: Origins’ Tackles One of the Darkest Parts of Gibbs’ Past, But We Already Know the Outcome

The push and pull all season of NCIS: Origins is to explore parts of Gibbs’ past in “the story I don’t tell” while also dealing with events longtime NCIS fans have known to be canon. We saw Gibbs grieve the murders of his wife and daughter in real time, and begin to heal through working at NIS. We also saw his grief get the better of him, with the murder of Pedro Hernandez and the impossible situation he puts those now closest to him in that know. Fans who have watched the mothership know the outcome of Macy’s investigation, but now fans get to see exactly how it played out. The dark secret in Gibbs’ past coming to light is only just the beginning, as NCIS: Origins has been renewed for a second season.

Watch the sneak peek for “Cecilia” above and catch the season finale on Monday, April 28 on CBS. Stay with Collider for the latest updates.
