Christina Haack’s Revelation About Tarek El Moussa Runs Deeper Than You Think
Despite the closure and reconciliation seen between former spouses Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa on The Flip Off, a history that will forever live between them remains. As we’ve come to know Christina Haack over the years, she’s never been one to mince her words. She’s taken her platform to speak her mind, shut down the hate, and rile up the controversy. As she said in 2017, “If something is on my mind, you’re gonna know. Because Tarek and I lost that communication completely, and it’s so hard to get it back once it’s gone.” As much as the Christina on the Coast star has moved on into a new chapter of her life, there will always be a past and history that will catch up with her.
Following her separation from Tarek, we’ve come to learn much about what led to the now-infamous explosive fight. Through a joint statement in Us Weekly following the incident, the then-El Moussas said, in part, “We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago, and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence, and no charges were filed. We chose to get counseling to sort out our relationship. Together, we have decided to separate while we reevaluate the future of our marriage.”
Tarek has shared his account in his memoir, but the trauma has still haunted Christina, affecting so much of her life since. However, the more time Christina has been able to spend healing, new revelations about Tarek’s past have become increasingly illuminating.
Jealousy Was A Problem for Tarek El Moussa
In a 2017 Good Housekeeping interview, Christina revealed that she hadn’t discussed her marriage issues with her parents until she and Tarek started therapy. This created tension, as Tarek was confiding in them more than she was. She explained that her parents were shocked when she moved out and were hoping for a reconciliation, especially for the kids. Despite the challenges, she emphasized that the decision was ultimately theirs to make, both personally and professionally.
Speaking with the publication, Christina revealed a bit about the dynamic between her and Tarek on the set of Flip or Flop. With a life of work and marriage, she revealed there was bickering early on, but when they separated and opted to continue to work with one another, that was when they worked best.
”We met at work, and we actually probably get along best at work,” she said. “He handles the business side, whereas I do better with the decorating side — we just have that dynamic together.” As seen through Flip or Flop and The Flip Off, Tarek and Christina are at their best when in work mode. It was their relationship as husband and wife that didn’t quite work. Later on in her interview, she acknowledged a flaw in Tarek about his jealousy regarding a man she dated post-separation. She said, “Doug [Spedding] was very successful, and Tarek had some jealously toward Doug. And I don’t care if it’s out there. It’s true.”
Jealousy has always been a part of Tarek’s fabric. As viewers learned during The Flip Off, the concept, along with a lack of respect, was part of the long-standing rift between him and Ant Anstead. Despite Tarek moving on with his life, starting a beautiful new family with his second wife, Heather El Moussa, there’s always a stronghold Christina has on him. While promoting The Flip Off last year, the trio, sans Josh Hall, took aim at the comedy surrounding Tarek’s obsession with beautiful blonde women. There’s always some truth in every joke. However, there were never any shots fired at Christina, nor was she deterred from her desire to be in love and rush into relationships. It’s because it was a sore subject that has caused her immense trauma.
Christina and Tarek Have Successfully Evolved
But Tarek wasn’t alone in having jealousy. Josh Hall had immense jealousy towards Tarek. It was a big talking point during Christina and Tarek’s emotional sitdown in the premiere of The Flip Off. So, does Christina Haack have a type? Is she a magnet for strong and aggressive men with some jealousy issues? Christina’s history of rushing into marriages has a deeper meaning. There is something deeply psychological about it. But she’s not alone. She likes familiarity. She has an urge to feel wanted and loved, even if it means surrounding herself with individuals who can’t fully give that because of their own insecurities.
For those of us who have watched Haack over the years, her new relationship with Chris Larocca is beyond different from anything she has had in the past. He seems like an incredibly grounded and kind person. He’s confident in a manner that is unlike Tarek, Ant, or Josh. However, seeing how Christina and Chris have been able to successfully double-date with Tarek and Heather has shown immense growth on everyone’s part, especially Tarek’s. Christina’s emotions toward Tarek and their past will always be present, but time heals all wounds. Because Tarek is in such an incredible place in his life, perhaps the jealousy has subsided.
