It’s Been Almost 5 Months

For a hero shooter, Marvel Rivals has been moving at a rapid pace, adding heroes consistently while giving each of these heroes new skins constantly. NetEase has done its best to try to make the game balanced while also trying to make it fresh with new power-ups and maps every season. There’s a lot going on in Marvel Rivals even after its launch, although this hasn’t led to all heroes being treated equally. While fan favorites have plenty of love, others have been neglected as a result.
While Spider-Man and Wolverine have skin after skin, The Punisher hasn’t benefited in this regard. He is the only player not to get a new skin since Marvel Rivals launched in December 2024, and only has one more skin than the newly launched Emma Frost, which is incredible considering that he was part of the launch and beta roster. Everyone else has a skin added after the game’s initial launch, and The Punisher can’t even get a skin through one of the battle passes after Season 0’s.
Marvel Rivals Is Yet To Give The Punisher A Post-Launch Skin
Despite Having His Own Series And Now Being In The MCU
It isn’t as though The Punisher is a new or unpopular character. He is known as the antihero of the Marvel Universe, and has had his own Netflix series. He even appears in Daredevil: Born Again, making him an official member of the MCU, and this could mean he will get an MCU skin soon. Other characters like Captain America, Moon Knight, Spider-Man, and Black Widow (as well as many others) have gotten MCU skins, so maybe Frank Castle will be next.
While The Winter Soldier is no longer a part of the team-up, The Punisher still benefits from Rocket’s Ammo Overload.
Still, this could be due to the simplicity of The Punisher’s design. He’s usually just a dark-haired, muscular guy with a skull t-shirt, and there isn’t as much variation in this design compared to versions of Spider-Man and Wolverine. This isn’t really an excuse though, since Marvel Rivals has plenty of original designs for characters not inspired by the comics, with Cloak and Dagger benefiting from three game-original designs.
Punisher Is Played Often, Yet Lacks Skins Compared To Other Members Of The Roster
He Is The Reliable Shooter Character
Thanks to the simplicity of his kit, The Punisher is a good Duelist for almost any situation, and has seen a lot of use alongside Rocket, who got buffed for Season 2. He’s great against flying characters, effective against tanks with his shotgun, and hard to stop from controlling points with his turret. He’s also great for players familiar with shooters but less used to the hero shooter environment, and gets played a lot as a result, yet he doesn’t get a lot of love from the outfit department.

Marvel Rivals Season 2: How To Get Chrono Tokens, Units, & Lattice
The three types of currency you can get in Marvel Rivals are Chrono Tokens, Units, and Lattice, which can all be earned in different ways in Season 2.
An outfit based on the prehistoric variant of The Punisher, or a skin with an edgy trench coat, are both options, yet NetEase is yet to take these options. The Punisher continues to have the unwanted title of being the only character without a post-launch skin, although his MCU appearance could change that. Ultimately, it seems that Marvel Rivals doesn’t treat all its characters fairly, and Frank Castle is going to have to stay with his skull t-shirt a little longer.
