Dave Filoni has shared an update regarding the development of his Ahsoka and Mandalorian Star Wars crossover movie, which would impact its release date. Apart from Ahsoka and the Mandalorian, characters from Skeleton Crew and The Book of Boba Fett will also appear in the movie.
Dave Filoni on why his Mandalorian and Ahsoka Star Wars crossover movie is taking so long
Ahsoka director Dave Filoni recently had a chat with Collider at the Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where he revealed the status of his Star Wars crossover movie.
When asked how far along he is in the development of the movie, Filoni said, “It’s a long development and one of the reasons why is that I love to work on very large arcs and I try to factor in all the things that I’m creating simultaneously and looking at them and saying, ‘Well, how do we do unique things? What are unique set pieces, and where is the story going? What’s the play of the story?’ I ask myself these questions.”
Additionally, the director asserted that he is currently working on Season 2 of his 2023 show Ahsoka, and stated, “As those stories develop, it might change things that would affect what’s happening in the future and what I would do.”
Despite being involved in Ahsoka Season 2’s production, Filoni said that he is giving time to the crossover movie as well, saying “It’s all a balancing act, but I’m constantly working at it, working out scenes and I know several scenes and where they would go, so you kind of plug it in as you go.”
Filoni’s Star Wars film will have characters from the universe’s Disney+ shows coming together.
