’Fantastic Four’s Julia Garner Is Terrified in First ‘Weapons’ Images

Julia Garner and Josh Brolin are locked and loaded in Entertainment Weekly’s exclusive first look at Weapons. All eyes have been on the Warner Bros. feature since it was announced that funny guy turned horror filmmaker, Zach Cregger, was returning with another movie. Since then, the film has undergone some changes (specifically with Brolin stepping in to take over for Pedro Pascal), but the clock is counting down until its arrival on August 8. Today’s images serve as a follow-up from what we’ve previously seen in a short teaser that was released just one week ago. Since then, the images of children vanishing into the night as caught on home alarm systems have been the main thing that we conjure up when thinking of the film, but we’re officially getting a peek at the film’s leading stars in their latest roles.
Shocked — like she’s just been snapped out of a nightmare — Garner’s face is featured in a close-up that perfectly captures the terror we’d expect from Cregger’s sophomore production. The actress appears as Justine Gandy, a school teacher in the movie’s fictional town of Maybrook, Pennsylvania, where the children have gone running off at 2:17 a.m. on a random Wednesday. Her horrified look perfectly sums up what we imagine will be Justine’s vibes for the entire film, as it was her classroom that disappeared into the darkness with all but one child from her roster now missing.
The other primary first look showcases Brolin as disgruntled and disturbed father, Archer Graff. The towering man is precisely the person you wouldn’t want to cross at a PTA meeting. Donning a layered outfit that’s topped off by a dark green vest, the image shows Archer making some intense eye contact with someone off-screen who we’d presume to be a member of the school’s staff. Undoubtedly searching for answers surrounding his missing child, Brolin’s latest character will do anything he can to bring his kiddo home safely.
Who Else is In ‘Weapons’?
Along with the duo showcased in the first drop of official images, audiences can also expect Weapons to include a lineup featuring names like Alden Ehrenreich (Cocaine Bear), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness), Cary Christopher (Spider-Noir), Amy Madigan (Field of Dreams), and Austin Abrams (Do Revenge), with Cregger revealing to Entertainment Weekly that there are “a couple missing names” from the official call sheet announcement.
