How did Ali Wong help Bill Hader after LA Fire?
Recently, Bill Hader shared how his girlfriend, Ali Wong, supported him after the Los Angeles wildfires left his Pacific Palisades home damaged and uninhabitable. Speaking on Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, Hader explained that Wong’s help made a big difference during this tough time.
Hader mentioned how he had been living in sweatpants and jokingly said his kids were concerned and said, “You’re living in your pajamas.” When he told Wong, she immediately took him out shopping for new clothes. He said, “And it was very sweet. She was like, ‘Let’s go get you some jeans.’”
Hader admitted that this small but meaningful gesture meant a lot to him, especially after everything that happened. Though his house wasn’t completely destroyed, Hader described it as “unlivable,” with dust and toxic residue covering everything inside.
He had been filming in Malibu when the fire hit and had to join a news crew to access his neighborhood. The comedian said, “I thought I was going to go up there and hopefully the house would be somewhat OK and I could get my passport and get out of there or something.” He was shocked by the condition of the house and the surrounding area. In addition to Hader’s struggles, his ex-wife Maggie Carey lost her home in the fires as well.
Despite these challenges, Hader’s relationship with Wong remains strong. Previously, his rep confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple is still together, following speculation that started after Hader missed the 2025 Golden Globes. Instead, Hader missed the event due to a flare-up of a chronic eye condition.
