The Reminders of Him movie adaptation has added a new star. Reminders of Him is a 2022 romance novel by bestselling author Colleen Hoover. The story focuses on a woman named Kenna Rowan, who returns to her town after serving a five-year prison sentence for a tragic mistake. Attempting to reconnect with her four-year-old daughter, Kenna tries to restart her life, but finds that the only person who will really accept her is a local bar owner named Ledger Ward. In October 2024, it was announced that Universal Pictures had acquired rights to adapt Reminder of Him.
As per Deadline, Reminders of Him has now found a new cast member. The movie has cast Bradley Whitford. Whitford will play Patrick Landry, the father of Kenna’s late boyfriend, Scotty. Patrick and his wife, Grace, have guardianship of Kenna’s daughter at the beginning of the story.
What This Means For Reminders Of Him
Bradley Whitford Has Been Prominent On TV
Whitford is not the first actor on the Reminders of Him team. The film adaptation has already cast Tyriq Withers, Maika Monroe, Rudy Pankow, Lauren Graham and Nicholas Duvernay. Graham will play Whitford’s on-screen wife, while Monroe leads the cast as Kenna. The book adaptation will have a script developed by Lauren Levine and Hoover itself. Vanessa Caswill steps up to direct. Producers of the movie will include Hoover, Levine, and Gina Matthews, with Robin Fisichella executive producing.
Whitford has taken on numerous parts throughout his career, but he is most recently known for his role in The Handmaid’s Tale, where he plays Joseph Lawrence. This role earned him an Emmy win for Outstanding Guest Actor, and two additional nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor. He has been a staple on other television shows, including The West Wing, wherein he plays Josh Lyman. On the film side of things, Whitford is known for Get Out and A Cabin in the Woods. Whitford’s broad-reaching career will give him name recognition, boosting Reminders of Him.
Our Take On Bradley Whitford’s Casting In Reminders Of Him
The Cast Will Attract A Wide Range Of Audiences
After It Ends With Us, which did very well at the box office, audiences will be more acutely aware of Hoover’s work. This in and of itself will boost the film’s success potential, but its cast will also be a helpful draw. Interestingly enough, both Whitford and co-star Monroe have gained some fame in the horror film space. Reminders of Him is very different genre-wise, so it will be interesting to see how these two adapt and attract a wider range of audiences to this latest Hoover adaptation.
