Fans, new and old, have enjoyed diving into the realm of Cyrodill since The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered was announced and shadow dropped last week, and the mod scene is turning out to be gigantic. A new mod lets players who become a vampire, either intentionally or unintentionally, role-play even further and truly immerse themselves as a creature of the night who needs to feed on blood to stay strong.

Created and uploaded to Nexus Mods by RaczQ, a new mod called “Sanguine Hunger – Vampirism ReVamp” completely rebalances the way playing as a vampire works in the Oblivion remaster. The mod aims to make playing as a vampire more immersive by creating four different “hunger states” for players infected with Porphyric Hemophilia. At level one hunger, players’ skills are at max level. As hunger increases, skill levels get lower and vampire-exclusive abilities get taken away until the player feeds on blood.

Role-Playing As A Vampire Can Now Be More “Traditional”

In Oblivion Remastered, player characters can become infected with Porphyric Hemophilia when fighting a vampire. If left untreated for three in-game days, the character will become a vampire themselves. When you become a vampire, you get access to stat increases and new abilities like the Night Eye skill and invisibility powers that get stronger as your condition worsens. The longer you go without feeding, the stronger both your buffs and debuffs (like taking more damage from sunlight and fire magic) become. This mod aims to reverse that so it is more similar to traditional vampire myths.

Does The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Have Mod Support?

Extensive mod support tends to be one of the defining features of Bethesda RPGs, but Oblivion Remastered’s changes set up a different situation.

With the Sanguine Hunger mod, player characters get stronger the more they feed, and damage from sunlight and fire is minimized when fed properly. Eventually, characters will lose their buffs and become weaker if they go too long without feeding. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered saw some changes to how stats and leveling work, so playing as a vampire might be more appealing than it previously was, especially with this unique mod.

Our Take: This Mod Is Neat For Vampire Fans

Live Out Your Vampire Bloodbath Fantasies

Just a week after its release, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is already receiving a lot of mod support. There have been mods for changing character appearances, mods that rebind keys when playing with keyboard + mouse, and many more. A mod that makes playing as a vampire more similar to how vampires work in traditional myths is neat for vampire fans. The game’s base mechanic of getting stronger from failing to feed is odd, so this mod may see a lot of use from fans who want a new way to play as a vampire.

Oblivion Remastered features a lot of different classes, spells, guilds, and much more to play the game however you want. Even with all of that, adding a different way to play as a vampire with this mod is a unique way to shake up a playthrough. Now, players can embrace their vampire bloodthirsty fantasies, wreak havoc on Cyrodill, and get rewarded for doing so, fully embracing the life of a creature of the night in Oblivion Remastered.
