It’s long been rumored that Peaky Blinders, once set to finish after the upcoming Netflix feature-length movie, The Immortal Man, is now set to continue beyond this point as the Birmingham-based gangsters return to their rightful place on our screens. Now, according to British publication The Sun, the wheels are officially in motion on a new Peaky Blinders season, three years after the “final” one first aired. According to the publication, “The sixth series of Peaky Blinders was supposed to be the last and the movie was meant to be the final farewell for the story. But show boss Steven Knight couldn’t resist coming back to the story — his most famous creation — and he’s been dropping hints he wanted to return to do more.”

Has the green light now been given? Well, according to The Sun’s insider, yes, saying, “But the fact that it’s been officially green-lit by the Beeb and wheels are in motion on pre-production will be a huge thrill to fans of the show, which was a huge hit for the BBC.” It is suggested that filming will begin in September 2025, with the BBC still holding rights in the UK and Netflix hosting the seventh season internationally. The newest outing for Shelby and the gang is set to take place in the 1950s, and, contrary to previously held belief, will still feature Murphy, although now in a fatherly role to a host of younger wannabe gangsters.
