A third Angry Birds movie is coming to theaters. Paramount Pictures has announced that the franchise based on the popular mobile game will return to the big screen on January 29, 2027, more than seven years after the launch of the previous installment. The announcement comes right as the studio continues to expand their franchise catalog with sequels to The Smurfs, Paw Patrol and Avatar: The Last Airbender also in the works. Viewers will finally be able to find out what will happen to Red (Jason Sudeikis) next, with Angry Birds 3 allowing Paramount to work alongside Rovio Entertainment.
Both The Angry Birds Movie and The Angry Birds Movie 2 were released by Sony Pictures. The pandemic derailed any plans the company might have come up with in order to expand the franchise. But a few years after the sequel premiered on the big screen, Paramount will allow Red’s story to continue. Some of the cast members who have been heard since the first Angry Birds movie will come back for the third installment. Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom and Danny McBride will reprise their respective roles as Chuck, Silver and Bomb in the upcoming adventure that will remind audiences why the Angry Birds game became so popular more than a decade ago.
