Donald Trump’s Florida resort hosted the event, and images of Stamos in a tuxedo circulated online, prompting backlash from fans. In response, Stamos posted a statement on Instagram Stories on April 7, saying, “I accepted the invitation to emcee the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala — an evening dedicated to honoring and uplifting our frontline heroes.” (via Variety)

He emphasized the nonpartisan nature of the event, stating, “This nonpartisan event supports The Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations, a 501(c)(3) organization that trains 350-400 nurses every year, directly addressing the critical shortage of healthcare professionals in Palm Beach County.” He added, “Supporting nurses isn’t political — it’s essential… I stand by the importance of healthcare, of service, and of investing in those who care for our communities.”

Stamos clarified that his appearance did not reflect a shift in political allegiance, writing, “My values and political views remain unchanged.” He included a donation link to the nonprofit Democracy Forward, which “provides legal representation and expert counsel to people and communities who make up the very fabric of American democracy — free of charge.” (via US Weekly)

USA Today reported that the event also featured Dancing With the Stars alumni Artem Chigvintsev and Karina Smirnoff. It was co-chaired by Linda Adelson and Janet Levy. Both women have connections to Donald Trump. Stamos later posted a video supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

He also publicly celebrated his friend Dave Coulier’s recovery from stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. On April 1, Stamos said, “He fought like hell, with strength and heart and, true to form, Dave, a whole lot of humor.”
