‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Brit Eady Is No Victim

The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16, Episode 5, titled “About Last Night,” finally aired and fans were allowed to see exactly what led to RHOA OG Kenya Moore being expelled for the remainder of the season. As reported by numerous blogs, Kenya took retaliation in a feud with Brit Eady to an all-time low, presenting poster-sized pictures of Brit in an intimate exchange with an anonymous gentleman for the media and her invited guests to view. Fans were shocked that Kenya would weaponize the grand opening of her new Atlanta-based hair salon against the RHOA newbie.
Kenya’s behavior was immediately frowned upon by her co-stars and guests. Angela Oakely, who, minutes earlier, had pledged an alliance to Kenya, immediately started backpedaling. Cynthia Bailey quickly got up and prepared to leave. She gave Kenya a quick congrats on the salon, but voiced her disappointment also, insisting Kenya acted out of character. Porsha Williams couldn’t get out of the salon quick enough, asking the cameras to stop filming her and suggesting they cut her scenes for the day completely so that it looked like she’d never even attended the event. But Kenya was unfairly punished, while Brit remains on the show.
Kenya Moore Was Abandoned By The Entire Cast After Her Latest Shenanigans
Kenya’s extreme antics caused the focus to be completely shifted on her instead of Brit. At Angela’s event prior to the salon premiere, Brit picked a fight with Kenya because she felt the OG star was dismissive towards her. Attempting to make an impression with the loyal RHOA fans, Brit started the season hot and primed to prove she was a self-proclaimed Black Barbie. The first episode showed electric energy between her and the former Miss USA, as Brit attempted to flaunt her upgraded ring in her face. Kenya questioned Brit because her wedding ring looked like an engagement ring with a delicate band accompanied by a solitaire. Brit immediately took offense to Kenya’s inquiry and had it out for her from that moment on.

We’re only two episodes into Season 16, and Drew Sidora has already gotten messy on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta.’
During Angela’s dinner she attempted to get Kenya to acknowledge her, asking if Kenya could agree to speak cordially to everyone at the table. Kenya agreed, a bit sarcastically depending who you ask, explaining that she is able to be cordial with everyone. Brit reiterated that she was speaking specifically about Kenya being able to speak to her and the OG expertly dismissed the newbies’ attempt. Incensed at not being taken seriously, Brit immediately responded emotionally and insults were traded (mostly by her) until the two were separated by security. While being escorted to another part of the restaurant, Brit yelled that she didn’t allow disrespect of any kind and mentioned she was carrying her pistol. Although she didn’t brandish the gun or prove she had it in her possession, mentioning an armed weapon in 2025, when 80% of deaths in the United States involve gun violence, should always be taken seriously.
‘RHOA’ Is One Of the Few Shows That Defines the Culture Of the City
Besides the statistics for the country, in Atlanta, 84% of homicides are gun-related. The premiere of the Real Housewives franchise boasted over 2.5 million viewers, making it a major player on network and streaming platforms. Just as it’s imperative for producers not to condone sex or body-shaming, it’s irresponsible for a cast member not to be reprimanded for insinuating gun violence is a solution to a spat between co-stars. Atlanta mayor Andre Dickens has been working tirelessly to make the city safer and to remove illegal guns from the streets. After securing the mayoral seat for the influential city, the mayor made a strong statement via X clarifying his stance on gun violence, writing, “I wear orange to honor the victims and survivors of daily gun violence. Today, I’m saying “enough is enough“. The time for the US Senate to take bold action on gun safety is NOW!”
He also went on to say, “guns in the wrong hands at the wrong time is the problem.” With Atlanta’s mayor’s bold stance on gun control and gun violence, it’s safe to assume he would not approve of a star on a series that represents the city, issuing a threat involving a pistol, even if it was said in an emotional rant.
Atlanta experienced a surge in crime during the pandemic and the mayor and city officials have worked hard to crack down on the violence. With RHOA being one of the reality shows depicting the city’s success and black excellence, it’s disheartening to see Brit’s threat wasn’t frowned upon by Bravo production in the same way as Kenya’s. Gun violence should not be trivialized or used as an empty threat regardless of the circumstances.
To her defense, Brit realized the error of her ways and attempted to apologize to Kenya. In a conversation with Porsha, Brit admitted she judged Kenya prematurely based on her preconceived ideas about the former beauty queen from watching the show. Her anger towards Kenya was rooted in wanting her acceptance, but there is no excuse for using gun violence as a threat in a squabble between reality co-stars. If Brit resorts to threatening the use of an armed weapon in episode 4 of her first season, she is certain to be out of viable wit and resources long before the season 16 finale.
