Ana de Armas Reveals Biggest Regret About Meeting Keanu Reeves

Ana de Armas has shared a surprising and awkward memory from one of her first meetings with Keanu Reeves. The actress recalled an unexpected moment during lunch with Reeves, describing it as “embarrassing.”

Ana de Armas recently shared a memorable story about her first meeting with Keanu Reeves, which took place early in her Hollywood journey. Speaking at CinemaCon, where she was honored with the Action Star of the Year Award, de Armas looked back at the moment with humor. 

The encounter happened nearly 10 years ago when they were promoting the film Knock Knock in Chile. At the time, de Armas had just moved to the United States and was still learning English. She recalled attending a press lunch and being seated directly across from Reeves. The actress struggled to follow much of the conversation, and things got even more awkward when someone mentioned The Matrix.

Armas recalled, “He looked at me and asked me if I had seen it. And I was like, The Matrix? No.’” She added, “Everyone at the table was shocked, so someone came to me and told me in Spanish. ‘You haven’t seen La Matrix?’ I was, like, oh La Matrix. Yeah, I have seen that one.” The actress went on to describe the incident as “embarrassing.” (via The Hollywood Reporter)

Despite the language barrier and her nervousness, Armas said Reeves left a strong impression. She recalled how, during that same lunch, Reeves enthusiastically acted out a John Wick fight scene. She said, “He was so happy and he was just so excited about this film he had just done, and it got me so excited.”

Years later, the two actors crossed paths again. De Armas now stars in Ballerina, a spin-off from the John Wick series, with Reeves also featuring in the movie. It is on track to release on June 6, 2025.
