‘Chicago Med’ Showrunner Teases the Season 10 Finale
The Chicago Med Season 10 finale might still be weeks away, but showrunner Allen MacDonald says it will feature profound storylines. TV Line caught up with the show’s new boss, and when asked what it would entail, he teased: “The final minutes of the hour will have some big shocks with lasting ripple effects,” adding, “It’s going to be a very long summer for Chicago Med fans!“ MacDonald says viewers can expect stories centered on Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) and Dr. Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson). “Circumstance forces Dr. Charles to face a dark legacy in his family; Goodwin confronts her demons as she makes some deeply difficult decisions, both personal and professional; and there will also be some unexpected faces returning,” he said. The season finale does not yet have a release date, but that should change as the season’s end draws closer.
The finale teases a blast from the past as “unexpected faces” return. The new showrunner had previously said he’s interested in bringing back old characters, and viewers were treated to Dr. Reese’s (Rachel DiPillo) return in Episode 8, “Love Will Tear Us Apart.” “One of the unique opportunities of this One Chicago world is that you can bring these older characters back and have them come through the ED again, and see them interact with the new characters that we’ve created for this season and catch them up with the relationships they have with people that are still on the show. So, nothing is set in stone, but I’m very much interested in bringing back characters from the past,” he told The Hollywood Reporter at the beginning of the season. It remains unclear who is returning and what effect they’ll have on the ED.
What’s Next on ‘Chicago Med?’
New episodes of Chicago Med return on Wednesday, April 16. Ripley (Luke Mitchell) and Asher (Jessy Schram) take center stage as the former returns to Med, ready to make major changes in his life. Ripley’s behavior in recent episodes saw him blow up his life after he was fired for attacking someone. Asher also decided to end their relationship. A near-death experience changed Ripley’s perspective on life, and he wants to make amends. “Hannah makes a tough call to save a life. Frost (Darren Barnet) and Ripley treat a young boy with a snake bite. Archer (Steven Weber) gives Naomi a patient to handle on her own on her last day in the E.D.,” reads the logline for Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 18, “Together One Last Time.” Will Asher allow herself to be pulled back into Ripley’s orbit?
