Anjelica Huston talks about her private cancer battle
Anjelica Huston shared that her diagnosis came shortly after the release of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum in 2019. Recalling that time, she described it as “a very serious moment,” adding, “I managed to survive it, and I’m proud of myself.”
Though she chose not to disclose the specific type of cancer, The Dead actress admitted that the diagnosis was a shock. “It made me conscious of what I shouldn’t do, of places I shouldn’t go,” she said. “One of those places was taking life too seriously.”
Today, Anjelica Huston is cancer-free and feeling grateful. She marked her four-year milestone quietly but meaningfully by walking through her garden and appreciating life’s simple joys. “I smelled the roses and thought how clever I was,” she said. Now, after six years of keeping her health journey to herself, Huston decided it was time to open up. “Sometimes you feel like you don’t want to talk about it,” she acknowledged. “But there’s a lot to be said for talking about it and celebrating the fact that one’s come through.”
For Angelica Huston, surviving cancer has reinforced her appreciation for life’s fragility and beauty. “Life is tenuous and wonderful,” she said. “It also gives you the idea that the world is big and you can somehow match up to it.” Despite her health challenges, The Royal Tenenbaums actress isn’t slowing down. She is set to star as Lady Tressilian in Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero, a three-part murder mystery series premiering on April 16 on BritBox. (via People)
