‘One Piece’ Season 2 Teases a First Glimpse of the Zoans in New Behind-the-Scenes Video

There is a lot of anticipation among fans of the popular manga, One Piece, regarding the second season of Netflix‘s live-action adaption of the story. Filming on Season 2 has already wrapped, so fans can look forward to an announcement regarding a release date sometime soon…we hope. Monkey D. Luffy’s (Iñaki Godoy) and his desire to become the King of the Pirates is key to the One Piece storyline, and so is his Devil Fruit power, Gomu Gomu no Mi. Season 2 will have to grapple, not only with the storyline, but the outlandish scenes that accompany the manga. Central to that will be the arrival of the Zoans, the newest type of Devil Fruit users, who are known for their ability to transform into other creatures.
Season 2 has added a number of new faces to the roster, with Ty Keogh being one of them. Keogh is set to play a guard named Dalton from Drum Island, and he will be depicted as a Devil Fruit user with a Zoan Fruit power. Dalton’s transformation sees him become an ox, gaining the animal’s attendant abilities. Netflix’s One Piece official account on TikTok shared a video showing Keogh discussing the upcoming season and his character, Dalton. During the chat, Keogh points out his mask for Dalton, revealing it’s the one thing he would take home with him. With unruly hair around the neck, the mask comes complete with the ox horns and snout.
‘One Piece’ Season 2 Welcomes New Faces
Joining Keogh as part of Season 2’s new cast member roster is Joe Manganiello, who will play Mr. 0, aka the “Desert King” Sir Crocodile, the season’s main antagonist. Manganiello’s character is the powerful head of the criminal syndicate Baroque Works, who will work to oppose Luffy and the Straw Hats, which includes Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji, all of whom delivered stellar performances in the first season. Manganiello intends to follow in their footsteps, saying previously:
“So, while also tipping my hat to the existing fan base and paying respect to the 1300+ episodes of the cartoon that Japanese fans and fans around the world love. So, I am paying my respects to them through my performance also. It has been a blast. It’s been a blast.“
Besides Keogh and Manganiello, One Piece Season 2 welcomes a host of new characters, which Nico Robin (Lera Abova), aka the Devil Child, David Dastmalchian‘s Mr. 3, Katey Sagal as Dr. Kureha, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertari Cobra, Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday, and Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, among others.
The second season of Netflix’s One Piece has no official premiere date. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
