Jon Hamm Is Waiting For a Call From Marvel To Join the MCU

Jon Hamm has appeared in a Marvel project before, playing Tony Stark in Hulu’s M.O.D.O.K. TV series. But it seems the Your Friends & Neighbors star wants to do more with the superhero franchise, stating his interest in having a role in the MCU. He previously stated that he was interested in playing Doctor Doom before it was announced that Robert Downey Jr. would take the role for Avengers: Doomsday. He also was close to playing Mr. Sinister in the X-Men franchise. But that isn’t stop him from wanting to put on a supersuit and be a part of this theatrical juggernaut.

During an interview with Screenrant, Hamm expressed his appreciation for the Marvel franchise and was uncertain if the roles he pitched in were still available. He knows how secretive Marvel is with its casting, characters, and plot, but that doesn’t stop him from crossing his fingers, hoping he would have a spot in the superhero franchise.

“I don’t know. I honestly don’t know. Nobody knows what’s going on in the secret world of that company, but I do know that I have a lot of… I have a lot of appreciation for that world, so hopefully that’s reciprocated. Why not me?”

While Hamm has yet to join the MCU or DCU, he has starred in multiple notable projects, such as Transformers One, Good Omens, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Mad Men, just to name a few. He also had a few minor roles in Bob’s Burgers, American Dad, Family Guy, and SpongeBob SquarePants. Hamm is set to star in an upcoming Apple TV+ series, Your Friends and Neighbors, along with Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Amanda Peet (The Good Wife), and Mark Tallman.

Who’s Going To Star in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’?

Avengers: Doomsday has finally entered production and is scheduled to be released in May 2026. This film and Avengers: Secret Wars will close Phase 6 of the MCU, thus ending the Multiverse Saga. Along with its production announcement, Marvel has shared a massive cast list filled with big, familiar names who are set to join this two-part feature.

Joining Downey Jr in this Marvel feature include some of the original Avengers cast, like Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Paul Rudd, and Anthony Mackie, the Fantastic Four cast, the Thunderbolts* team, other notable MCU actors, like Letitia Wright, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Simu Liu, Danny Ramirez, and Winston Duke, and notable X-Men actors, such as Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Kelsey Grammer, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Channing Tatum.

Your Friends and Neighbors will premiere on Apple TV+ on April 11, 2025.
