Ester Dean recently apologized to Beyoncé for the alleged diss track, which she co-wrote with Keri Hilson. The remix by the latter, “Turnin Me On,” was released in 2009, following which, many were convinced that a verse from the song was referring to the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer.

So, here is every detail fans need to know about what Dean said in her recent social media post about the song.

Ester Dean apologizes for Beyoncé’s diss track

The singer-songwriter recently took to her Instagram to apologize for the verse that she co-wrote with singer Keri Hilson. Ester Dean referred to the “Turnin Me On” remix, which came out in 2009 and instantly became the center of attention for seemingly being targeted toward Beyoncé.

Dean referred to the verse as childish and wrote, “I submitted a lot of verses for that remix — one got picked, it was co-written with Keri. Looking back, it was childish and didn’t age well. I see how it hurt people, especially women, and I take full accountability.” She further asserted that she is “sorry for my part in it. Growth is real, and so is this apology.”

Previously, the same sentiments were echoed by Keri Hilson when she recently sat down for a chat on The Breakfast Club. She said, “It’s a regret. But not in the way people would think because that’s a song I actually didn’t write. Those are not my words. I come into the studio and he plays me this verse,” the “Knock You Down” singer recalled. “Automatically, I was like, ‘I’m not saying that.’ That was my position.’”

As per Hilson, she believed that the song was “shady” and tried to convince producers Polow da Don and Timbaland not to add the verse, but failed. Referring to Don, she stated that he hired another writer to add that verse. Hilson added, “I tried to fight him on it, and I began writing my own, but he… It was quite forceful. In an executive-artist way.”
