Firehouse 51 Is Under Scrutiny in New ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 13, Episode 18 Images

When Chicago Fire Season 13 returns next week with Episode 18, the entire Firehouse 51 crew, including its chief, Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), will be in the hot seat. Sent to investigate a matter at the station is a certain Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker), marking the first time audiences will see the immediate past 51 chief exercise duties in his new role as the Deputy Chief of the Chicago Fire Department. “Deputy Commissioner Boden returns to Firehouse 51 to investigate a disastrous firefight and the surrounding mystery that left one of their own in peril,” reads the synopsis for the episode aptly titled “Post Moterm.” NBC has released brand-new stills of the upcoming episode, previewing what promises to be a gripping and intense hour of television.

“Post Moterm” will be unlike any other episode Chicago Fire fans have seen, not only this season but since the show’s inception. The episode will adopt a different approach to its storytelling with most of it to play out through “flashbacks and unique point of views,” showrunner Andrea Newmann previously revealed. “Chief Boden leads our team on a search to discover the how, who, and why of a fierce firefight that ended in disaster,” Newmann further shared. Judging from a previously released sneak peek at the episode where Boden is seen questioning the officers seeking a detailed account of how they approached the incident, perhaps we’ll see each officer’s narration play out through flashbacks rather than in real time.

Boden has a stern expression in all the images where he appears, all of which see him standing by an incident board where he’s mapped out the floor plan of the apartment building as he begins his analysis. Joining him in the briefing room are Pascal, Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), and Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg), all seemingly under scrutiny as questions are directed their way. Other stills from the episode shift to the field, capturing the crew in action during the chaotic and tragic night of the fire.

Firehouse 51 is still reeling from the shocking death of Pascal’s wife, Monica, but the heartbreak might not be over, as this time, the team could be mourning one of their own. In a recent interview, Walker offered a chilling glimpse into the upcoming episode, revealing: somebody got left behind in a fire, and that somebody was a firefighter. That is a no-no and should never, ever happen. And because they were left behind, possibly by the end of this episode, we may lose them. It’s one of your favorites.” Walker also confirmed the firefighter ended up in critical condition at the hospital. While early speculation pointed to Herrmann, the newly released images showing him alongside Boden during the investigation seem to rule him out, along with Stella and Kelly. That narrows the potential victim down to Jack Damon (Michael Bradway), Sam Carver (Jake Lockett), Randy “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte), or Joe Cruz (Joe Miñoso).
