The 90 Day Fiancé franchise has seen all kinds of couples going through the wringer as they navigate the challenges of being in a long-distance relationship. While some are able to commit to each other despite cultural clashes and communication breakdowns, sometime’s you just know that a couple is not going to make it. But that doesn’t make the messy unraveling of these relationships any less fun.

In fact, I sometimes find myself rooting for the couples to break up instead of watching them struggle to stay together just for the heck of it. After all, some of the most memorable moments in the franchise include explosive fights and ugly breakups. Because as heartwarming as it is to watch a couple go the long way, the real fun lies in the drama. Here are 90 Day Fiancé’s most bitter exes who can’t stand each other after their time on the show is over.

10

Molly Hopkins and Luis Mendez

Season 5

Molly Hopkins and Luis Mendez were one of those couples on the show who are unpleasant to watch right from the start. The two met in the Dominican Republic and got engaged after knowing each other for just two months. If that wasn’t a sign that their relationship wasn’t going to last, I don’t know what was. Their time on the show was riddled with bitterness, constant clashes, and petty behavior. And you’d imagine that two people who hate each other so much would be happy splitting up, but their breakup was even more dramatic!

After the couple got married in secret, Mendez would constantly get into arguments with Hopkins’s family and friends. Not just that, but his lack of interest in being a stepdad to her two daughters is what really drove their relationship off the edge. To make things worse, Mendez made some extremely creepy comments to Hopkins’s eldest daughter, which is what led to their eventual divorce just five months after their marriage. Mendez moved on with another woman a few months after the split, which led to a social media feud between him and Hopkins.

In an interview with InTouch, Mendez talked about getting married soon after his divorce from Hopkins and claimed that he just wanted to be happy. Now, that would have been completely fine if he hadn’t brought Hopkins into the conversation. After revealing that he wanted to know nothing about her life, Mendez claimed that if his ex-wife wanted to congratulate him for moving on, he wouldn’t mind it. This forced Hopkins to go live on her Instagram and call Mendez out for using her to get a visa to the U.S. She added that his new wife looked older than her and expressed how hurt she was at his betrayal. So, it’s safe to say that these two definitely aren’t on the best of terms. But when have they ever been?

9

Jasmine Pineda and Gino Palazzolo

’90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days’ – Season 5

I’m being completely honest when I say that Jasmine Pineda and Gino Palazzolo have been one of the most toxic couples to have ever been featured on the 90 Day franchise. Not only was their relationship tumultuous and downright ugly, but the lengths these two have gone to hurt each other are unbelievable. These two found each other when Pineda was looking for a cash cow on a sugar baby website. So, you can imagine the note that their romance started on. Now, Palazzolo knew what he signed up for, but when he realized that Pineda was more interested in his money than him, he never took a stand for himself.

Pineda’s verbal jabs at Palazzolo were a constant part of their relationship, and to make things worse, she put him on blast in front of the whole world for his intimacy issues. Palazzolo would never draw the line at berating her husband, and, for some reason, he kept going along with all her demands and took the mistreatment. When the show wasn’t enough, Palazzolo would also take to social media to insult her husband’s appearance and make it clear that she wasn’t attracted to him.

The last straw came when it was confirmed that Pineda cheated on Palazzolo and got pregnant with another man’s baby. This resulted in a constant cycle of social media posts from the estranged couple where they continue to throw shade at each other for being bad partners. But the truth is that both of them are better off without each other.

8

Darcey Silva and Tom Brooks

Season 3

Tom Brooks and Darcey Silva met each other in 2018, and if we’re being honest, they did share great chemistry in the beginning. But when things got too real, the cracks in their relationship started to show. You could tell that Silva was always more invested than Brooks, who barely ever paid any attention to her. Since these two were in a long-distance relationship, Silva’s biggest complaint would be that Brooks would only make an effort to communicate when it suited him. Things took a turn for the worse when Silva discovered that her boyfriend was cheating on her with another woman. Their relationship ended with an explosive confrontation in New York City, where Brooks came clean about his infidelity.

To make things worse, Brooks told Silva that he saw her more as a sister than a romantic partner, and obviously, that completely crushed her. Even those who didn’t like Silva have to admit that Brooks was downright nasty to her during their last conversation, especially when he rudely asked her if she had gained weight. After their breakup, both of them took to social media to share their sides of the story. Brooks implied that Silva was emotionally needy and was always bringing up her ex, Jesse Meester. Silva, on the other hand, expressed that she regretted letting Silva use her for his five seconds of fame.

Nicole Nafziger and Azan Tefou

Season 4

Nicole Nafziger and Azan Tefou first met during 90 Day Fiancé Season 4 when the Florida native flew out to Morocco to meet her online boyfriend for the first time. The two were engaged by the end of Nafziger’s trip and went on to star in 90 Day Fiancé Season 5 along with 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Seasons 3 and 4. But early on in their relationship, it was evident that these two were not each other’s perfect match. The fact that they postponed their wedding not once, but twice goes to show that the issues in their relationship were pretty much unresolvable.

Whale Nafziger seemed pretty invested in their romance, and Tefou saw her as a ticket to her better life. In fact, he openly admitted to being only “55% attracted” to her, which is definitely not what you should be saying to your future wife. The worst part is that Nafziger would push Tefou into roles that he just didn’t want to take up. Their relationship hit rock bottom when Nafziger cheated on Tefou, which led to a breakup. And while Tefou asked Nafziger for some space, she did the exact opposite and started bombarding him with calls and messages. She even sent him a series of manipulative videos where her young daughter was calling Tefou “daddy” and asking him to come back. All of that, combined with Nafziger’s fake pregnancy announcements on social media to imply that she and Tefou were still together, was a recipe for absolute disaster.

6

Chantel Everett and Pedro Jimeno

Season 4

All my sympathies go out to Chantel Everett because no one deserves to deal with a partner as selfish as Pedro Jimeno. The two met online after a friend introduced them before Everett flew to the Dominican Republic to see Jimeno in person. It was love at first sight for Everett, who made Jimeno the center of her universe. Now, while she believed that Jimeno reciprocated her feelings, Everett’s family wasn’t too sure of his intentions. And they weren’t wrong because as soon as Jimeno arrived in the U.S., he turned into a completely different person.

Poor Everett didn’t know what hit her when Jimeno refused to pay attention to her. The worst part is that he would claim that he loves her, while spending most of his time outside the house with other women. Jimeno completely froze Everett out while living in her home before blindsiding her with a divorce notice in May 2022. Over time, Jimeno’s cold and calculating nature came to the surface, and it won’t be wrong to assume that he was always using Everett as her ticket to the U.S., because the minute he got his green card, he was out!

5

Angela Deem and Michael Illesanmi

’90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days’ – Season 2

Angela Deem is the textbook definition of a narcissist, and every time she was on-screen, she made me want to rip my hair out. To start things off, she was 22 years older than Michaell Illesanmi, which obviously established a power dynamic between them. And Angela abused that to no end. She was extremely controlling of Illesanmi and forbade him from being on social media because she was afraid that he would cheat on her. But well, she wasn’t wrong about the cheating part. Angela’s verbal abuse and Michael’s multiple instances of infidelity pushed their marriage to the brink. The couple’s split in 2024 was inevitable, but their feud didn’t stop there.

After Illesanmi practically ran away from Deem and claimed that she was putting his life in danger, Deem filed for an annulment. She alleged that her estranged partner was involved in an immigration scam and tried to get him deported. Deem even went as far as to accuse Illesanmi of being part of a gang. But on the other hand, Illesanmi has shifted gears and is now pursuing a career as a social media influencer. And something tells me Deem isn’t happy that he continues to live a happy life without her.

4

Statler Riley and Dempsey Wilkinson

’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’ – Season 6

Statler Riley and Dempsey Wilkinson met on a dating app before Riley flew to the UK to meet her love interest in person. The only problem was that she didn’t tell Wilkinson that she was planning on moving there to be with her. Obviously, this led to some tension, especially since Wilkinson felt completely blindsided by the decision. On several occasions in the show, Riley accused Wilkinson of being insensitive and unsupportive of her struggles with ADHD and autism. Not to mention that Wilkinson’s unemployment was also the root cause of a lot of the couple’s arguments.

On the other hand, Wilkinson would always complain about her girlfriend’s negative energy, and their relationship was put to the test when they took a vacation to Europe together. For some reason, the couple was always dealing with clashing expectations and was never on the same page about anything. All of this makes you wonder why they were together in the first place. And maybe they felt the same way because the former couple called it quits in June 2024 when Riley accused Wilkinson of cheating on her.

That’s not all, though! Riley exposed Wilkinson for allegedly living rent-free in a van that she was paying for and called her a “scam artist.” She added that her ex owed her thousands of dollars and even tagged Wilkinson’s new girlfriend in the social media posts, calling her out. In response, Wilkinson accused Riler of being a bully and a liar and claimed that she was racist towards her family. According to Wilkinson, her ex was manipulating the narrative to look like the victim, when that wasn’t the case.

3

Kimberly Rochelle and TJ Goswami

’90 Day Fiance: The Other Way’ – Season 1

Kimberly Rochelle and TJ Goswami met in a spiritual group on social media before Rochelle decided to relocate to India to be with the man she loved. However, she had no idea how hard it would be to navigate their cultural differences. On top of that, Goswami might have been one of the worst men to have been featured on the show because he practically forced Rochelle to embrace his family’s patriarchal norms that she was clearly not comfortable with. As Rochelle struggled with homesickness and depression, Goswami became increasingly emotionally available.

When it was all too much for Rochelle, she went back to the U.S. and decided to call it quits with Goswami. But that was only the start of their messy breakup drama. For a while, Goswami came to Alabama to live with Rochelle and mend their relationship. However, things didn’t work out, and he had to return to India. When he did, he shared a photograph on his social media showing a dirty floor covered with ripped-up pictures of him and Rochelle. For the longest time, these bitter exes have been calling each other out on social media. While Goswami has accused Rochelle of cheating on him, she has claimed that Goswami and his entire family were mentally, physically, and emotionally abusive towards her. Unfortunately, there’s no winner in this situation because, by the looks of it, their social media feud isn’t dying down anytime soon.

2

Jihoon Lee and Deavan Clegg

’90 Day Fiance: The Other Way’ – Season 1

The biggest problem in Jihoon Lee and Deavan Clegg’s relationship was that Lee refused to take any kind of responsibility. Obviously, they got off to a rocky start with their first sexual encounter, leading to Clegg getting pregnant. The couple barely knew each other when they started thinking about raising a kid together. Poor Clegg was trying so hard to make things work that she even moved to South Korea because she believed Lee was settled there. However, when she found out that his job wasn’t enough to support him, let alone their whole family, things got messy between these two.

After giving it her best shot, Lee confirmed their split in 2020 and admitted that everyone was happier this way. For a while, their breakup seemed pretty cordial. But in 2021, Deavan accused Lee of child abuse. She had previously claimed that he was never a hands-on father and that their entire relationship was built on lies. But it turns out that Clegg presented evidence to the authorities which proved that her former partner had been abusive towards her daughter, Drascilla, from a previous relationship. In response to all the criticism of her allegations, Clegg took to social media to claim that people had no idea about the type of evil that happened to her daughter behind closed doors. While the exact allegations haven’t been made public, Lee and Clegg’s split is a dark moment in the show’s history.

1

Danielle Mullins and Mohamed Jbali

Season 2

Danielle Mullins and Mohamed Jbali from 90 Day Fiance

Danielle Mullins and Mohamed Jbali have been one of the most controversial couples in 90 Day Fiancé history. For starters, the two met in a chatroom, which doesn’t exactly make for a romantic meet-cute. But it gets worse, because Mullins was 17 years older than Jbali and was a mother to four kids. Despite their age and cultural differences, the former couple somehow hit it off and got engaged in a few months. Jbali moved to the U.S. on a K-1 visa to begin his life with Mullins. But it was evident that these two couldn’t make it work even if they had a gun to their heads.

Right off the bat, Jbali was extremely distant and made it clear that he wasn’t interested in being intimate with his fiancée. While he claimed that this was because of his religious beliefs, it was pretty obvious that Jbali was just not into Mullins. You have to feel pretty bad for Mullins because she was in a state of constant turmoil as she started to realize that her husband was only with her for the ulterior motive of moving to the United States. But she wasn’t innocent either. Mullins always came across as pushy and never seemed to respect Jbali’s boundaries. And the minute his green card arrived, he ditched Mullins and fled.

After the two of them separated, Jbali threatened to have her partner deported and went to extreme lengths to find out where he was living. She continued to harass him for months on end and even went as far as to scream and yell outside his house in the middle of the night. All in all, these two were a match made in hell, and their drama went on long after their separation.
