Pit Girl and Antler Queen Are Finally Revealed

Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers for the finale of Season 3 of Yellowjackets. After an eventful season, the Yellowjackets Season 3 finale went out with a bang, answering some of our most pressing questions and opening up plenty of new ones going into Season 4, which has yet to be confirmed. With only a few remaining suspects to choose from, the identity of Pit Girl, who we see chased through the snow in the pilot episode, is finally revealed, as is that of Lottie’s (Simone Kessell) killer in the present-day timeline. As the teenage Yellowjackets get closer and closer to being rescued, tensions rise between them as Natalie (Sophie Thatcher) is ousted as their leader and Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) is finally confirmed as the mysterious Antler Queen from the first episode. Though we still don’t know for sure what “It” is – if it’s anything at all – here’s what we do know after the Season 3 finale.
Mari Is Finally Confirmed as Pit Girl and Shauna becomes Antler Queen
One of the biggest looming questions throughout all three seasons of Yellowjackets has been the identity of Pit Girl. In the pilot episode, we’re never shown her face, but we know she’s a thin young white woman with dark hair, which narrowed down the options to just a few people. Once adult Lottie was revealed to have survived in Season 2, Mari (Alexa Barajas) quickly became the most likely suspect, and the Season 3 finale confirmed that she is, in fact, Pit Girl. The introduction of Hannah’s (Ashley Sutton) character in Episode 7 made her a new suspect, but despite Van (Liv Hewson) and Tai’s (Jasmin Savoy Brown) attempt to rig the draw, Shauna catches on and intentionally messes up the order, leaving Mari to draw the Queen of Hearts and become their prey. Shauna then places Jackie’s (Ella Purnell) heart necklace around her neck and the hunt begins. Shedding her colorful clothing to make herself harder to spot in the snow, Mari eventually falls into the pit Travis (Kevin Alves) set up with a bunch of sharpened stakes at the bottom that he initially intended to use to kill Lottie (Courtney Eaton).
After they retrieve Mari’s body, Shauna instructs Natalie to prepare her for the feast, punishing her for being the sole objector to the hunt and establishing herself as the new alpha. Shauna has been trying to seize power from Natalie all season, and after their successful hunt, we find out that Shauna is the faceless Antler Queen from the pilot episode. Things aren’t quite as they seem, however, as a separate plan was also set in motion during the hunt.
Natalie Goes Rogue to Call for Help
While the rest of the group are distracted with the hunt, Natalie takes the opportunity to grab the satellite phone and make her way to somewhere she can attempt to make contact unimpeded by the trees that surround their camp and block the radio waves. She switches clothes with Hannah so that no one will notice her absence, and Shauna only discovers she’s gone the following day, when Natalie has already made it to the top of a huge cliff. Though it’s staticky at first, Natalie continues to scream into the receiver for help until, finally, a man’s voice answers, “Yes, I can hear you.” It’s unclear if anyone else besides Hannah knew of her plan, but based on Misty’s (Samantha Hanratty) smile after Shauna’s reaction to Natalie’s disappearance, the two of them may have hatched the plan together.

Tragedy looms over the past timeline.
Akilah Secretly Sets up the Hunt
Throughout Season 3, Akilah (Nia Sondaya) has had a number of mushroom-induced visions, including one where all the animals in their village inexplicably died. Like Akilah’s vision of Coach Ben (Steven Krueger) being their bridge home, this vision also comes true in the Season 3 finale, prompting Lottie to suggest that It isn’t satisfied with just any death, and that they need to have another hunt to keep It happy. While said hunt is taking place, Akilah follows Lottie to the cave, where we find out that Akilah’s vision only “came true” because she orchestrated it, purposely poisoning the animals so that the rest of the group would also see it as a sign and thus be open to a hunt. Akilah tells her she’s not a believer anymore, accusing Lottie of tricking them into believing things that aren’t real and blaming everything on her.
Callie Confesses to Killing Lottie
The biggest mystery of Yellowjackets Season 3’s present-day timeline has been the identity of Lottie’s killer following her mysterious death. Though Misty (Christina Ricci) had previously hurled accusations at Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) and Tai (Tawny Cypress), the finale reveals that it was actually Callie (Sarah Desjardins) who killed Lottie. After realizing Lottie stole the tape she’d been hiding in her bedroom, Callie tracks her down to confront her and get it back. During their conversation, Lottie tells Callie she’s a child of the wilderness and has It in her, just like her mom, which upsets Callie to the point that she pushes Lottie down the stairs in anger, though not actually intending to kill her. After Misty puts the pieces together and confronts Callie with her evidence, Callie confides in her dad, who comforts her and apologizes for not protecting her from her mother. By the time Shauna returns home, Jeff (Warren Kole) and Callie have packed their bags and left, telling Shauna they need space.
Shauna Finds Melissa’s Note and Self-Reflects
When Shauna arrives home to an empty house, she finally finds the note Melissa (Hilary Swank) sent along with the tape that accidentally slipped under the fridge when Callie first opened it. In her note, Melissa discusses letting go and moving on, causing Shauna to break down, tear up the note, and begin writing one of her own. In her note, Shauna fondly reflects on the person she was out in the wilderness, claiming that they all, deep down, had fun out there. Now feeling powerless and like her life has spiraled completely out of control, Shauna recalls a time when she could be who she really is: a warrior and a queen rather than a wife and mother.
Tai and Misty May Be Planning to Kill Shauna
After Melissa killed Van (Lauren Ambrose) in the previous episode, Tai refuses to let Shauna help her bury her body, blaming her for Van’s death. Later, Tai and Misty meet up at a diner to discuss how Shauna’s actions have wrecked their lives, with Tai blaming her not only for Van’s death but for Natalie’s (Juliette Lewis) too, and finally starts to remember how teenage Shauna thrived in the wilderness and put them through some of the worst things they experienced out there. At the end of her rant, she says, “If we keep letting this slide, she’s going to end up being the last one standing,” and Misty agrees wholeheartedly. Though they may not be as quick to violence as Shauna, we already know what both the teen and adult versions of Tai and Misty are capable of, and they appear to be plotting to kill Shauna once and for all.
