The Pitt is the smash hit of the season. The new MAX series throws us into the emergency room of the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. After this season came to an end, fans have been waiting for more information on what is to come with Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle), Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball), and the rest of the team. But now we do know at least a little about where we are taking the show, particularly Langdon.

Creator R. Scott Gemmill and Wyle were speaking with TV Line when they started to talk about Season 2. We know that the show will be set during the Fourth of July and according to Gemmill, Langon will be back on the show. “I think we will pick up on Langdon’s first day back at work, but it’ll be more than a month…. The biggest driver of [the Season 2 time jump is] Langdon. Thirty days is probably the minimum he would have to do. You can do 60, 90… and part of [the time jump] is driven by when we can shoot in Pittsburgh,” Gemmill said.

He went on to talk more about filming the show itself. “We’re going to shoot in September again. It has to look like the right time of year, whether it’s spring, summer or fall, and we’ve done fall [in Season 1]. We’re going to do Fourth of July weekend. Nine, basically 10 months later, gives a lot of room for us to have developed a few stories in the interim and catch up with everyone. And with it being Langdon’s first day back, we get to catch up as he catches up with all those people.”

Gemmill talked about Langon and Robby’s relationship a bit, saying how Robby has his own issues to deal with just as Langdon does. He isn’t facing his own mental health issues and Langdon is hiding his drug use. Wyle went on to talk about how excited he was to work with Ball and allow Robby and Langdon’s relationship to grow and change. “Patrick is a brilliant actor, and we love Langdon, and there’s a lot more to mine in that relationship. So having him come back and be part of the hospital would necessitate bringing him through some sort of treatment program to allow him to come back.”

You can see Langdon and Robby back in the ER in Season 2 of The Pitt.
