Matty and Olympia Are Ready for War in ‘Matlock’ Season 1 Finale Promo

The Matlock Season 1 finale will be something to behold as Matty’s (Kathy Bates) long-held secret teeters on the verge of being exposed. Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) has yet to decide what to do with everything she discovered, but whatever she decides will have major consequences for the show and the characters’ relationships. CBS has set a two-hour season finale on Thursday, April 17. “When Sarah’s (Leah Lewis) client is arrested after his business partner is found murdered, Billy (David Del Rio) attempts to help her handle the case while Matty and Olympia contend with a pressing confidential matter,” reads the logline for the two-parter titled “Tricks of the Trade.” The network also released a sneak peek, which shows Matty and Olympia on opposite sides for the first time.
Matty is not helpless in this situation since she has some contingencies. She’s banking on Olympia’s instincts to protect her family, making her less threatening. “If I go down, you go down,” says Olympia in the video below. Her statement teases a cooling off of the animosity in the previous episode since they are both assured mutual destruction if the secret were to come out. The promo is careful not to reveal the direction the storylines take, but teases several campy moments as Olympia and Matty battle for the upper hand. Who will win? Will anyone win? Is the only way to win working together?
Matty and Olympia Break the Wellbrexa Case Wide Open
While the promo teases a seesaw tussle between Matty and Olympia, it has to end at some point. Matlock will offer answers regarding the Wellbrexa cover-up in the season finale. Matty and Olympia will work together as the latter tries to prove her ex-husband’s innocence. “Now that Olympia and Matty are working together, they are able to access answers that Matty was not able to get alone and drive towards figuring out who did what,” executive producer Jennie Synder Ullman told TV Insider. The finale will be full of shockers as the culprit is exposed. “When we read the script, everybody gasped at the table read and it was 50% of ‘I knew it’ and 50% of ‘You got to be kidding me. I’m totally blindsided,'” Marshall said. Meanwhile, Billy and Sarah’s case could spell doom for their careers. “If this doesn’t go right for her, you might not see her in Season 2 because it’s pretty bad. What she did could have gotten her and Billy kicked out of Jacobson Moore,” Lewis teased.
Tune in to CBS on Thursday, April 17, to watch “Tricks of the Trade” and see how everything plays out.
