Aimee Lou Wood Doesn’t Blame Sarah Sherman for SNL’s The White Lotus Sketch

Aimee Lou Wood has issued another statement on Saturday Night Live’s The White Lotus sketch that she initially called mean and unfunny.
What did Aimee Lou Wood say about SNL’s The White Lotus sketch?
In another Instagram Story posted over the weekend, Wood amended comments she made following the airing of the SNL sketch. Originally, Wood called the sketch — titled “The White Potus,” and seeing various political figures parodied in the style of the show — “mean and unfunny,” after her character (played by Sarah Sherman) was mocked for her teeth and appearance.
Wood noted that, while she is not thin-skinned, she feels like the sketch could have been done in a way that doesn’t punch down on her looks.
“Last thing I’ll say on the matter. I am not thin-skinned,” Wood’s post read. “I actually love being taken the piss out of when it’s clever and in good spirits. But the joke was about fluoride. I have big gap teeth, not bad teeth. I don’t mind caricature – I understand that’s what ‘SNL’ is. But the rest of the skit was punching up, and I/Chelsea was the only one punched down on.”
Wood’s latest Instagram Story then clarifies that, while she is still “hating on the concept” of the sketch, she has no ill will toward Sherman for being in it.
“Actually one last thing. Not [Sarah Sherman’s] fault. Not hating on her. Hating on the concept,” said Wood in the post.
The SNL skit in question, titled “The White Potus,” is a parody of the hit HBO series and is aimed mostly at Donald Trump and other various politics surrounding the ongoing tariffs issue. While other characters are mocked for their political views and past quotes, Wood’s character (played by Sarah Sherman) is mocked mostly for her teeth.
At one point, Jon Hamm (who played Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the skit) tells Sherman’s character he is thinking of taking the fluoride out of the drinking water, to which Sherman responds, “Fluoride? What’s that?”
