Netflix’s docuseries, Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing, explains what happened to everyone who was connected to Tiffany Smith and her influencer daughter, Piper Rockelle’s online squad, including Raegan Beast. Created by Kief Davidson, the three-part Netflix docuseries based on a true story explores how Tiffany Smith and her partner, Hunter Hill, established a group of young content creators, called The Squad, to help Smith’s young daughter, Piper Rockelle, gain online recognition. The latest to join Netflix’s growing list of documentaries, through interviews with former members and journalists, Bad Influence reveals the different struggles faced when the cameras stopped.
Throughout the docuseries, different former members of Piper Rockelle’s Squad, and others who were closely associated with her, spoke about their experiences collaborating with her and posting videos to help increase her online audience. Eleven former members filed a lawsuit against Tiffany Smith in 2022, alleging mistreatment and abuse behind the scenes. Among those interviewed was influencer and musician, Raegan Beast, who began his social media career in 2016. Although he was not a Squad member and did not participate in the lawsuit, Beast collaborated with Rockelle in her early videos and shared his experiences with Tiffany Smith in the docuseries.
Raegan Beast’s Allegation Against Tiffany Smith In Bad Influence Explained
Beast Was 17 When He Collaborated With Piper Rockelle
In episode 2 of Bad Influence, Raegan Beast revealed that he first met Piper Rockelle and Tiffany Smith through his manager, and began collaborating with Rockelle on the now-defunct Musical.ly. He described how Smith took an unusual interest in his transition and continually asked him questions about his body that he described in the docuseries as “sexual” and “a little inappropriate.” Beast recalled one incident in 2017, when he was given alcohol by Smith during a filming session at her Los Angeles house. Beast recalled how, during a YouNow livestream, Smith began touching him, before unexpectedly kissing him (via Daily Mail).
Beast stated in the docuseries that he was only 17 at the time when the incident happened and remembered how the footage of the kiss was shared on Instagram and other social media platforms; his social media followers expressed shock and disgust at the footage. Beast also revealed that, to his surprise, the footage was completely removed from social media the following morning. In Bad Influence, he stated that he never filed a complaint against Smith for her inappropriate behavior as he worried about how it would impact his career, but stopped associating with Smith and Rockelle shortly afterward.
