The second season of theSex and the City revival And Just Like That was a smashing success, and and now season 3 is coming very soon. The revival was originally supposed to be a miniseries before it was renewed for a second season, but the Sex and the City continuation has seemingly become the second leg of the franchise. And Just Like That follows Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) as they navigate life in New York City in their 50s, dealing with grief, complex friendships, sexuality, and gender.

From the start, And Just Like That differed from HBO’s Sex and the City. Carrie’s main love interest Mr. Big (Chris Noth) died in the first episode, and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) never appeared on screen due to Kim Cattrall initially refusing to return. Viewership made up for the less-than-desirable reviews, and AJLT was the most-streamed show on HBO Max at the time. As a result, And Just Like That season 3 was quickly renewed, and Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte have many more adventures ahead of them as they navigate life, love, loss, and everything in between.

The Release Date & Trailer Are Revealed

After a longer-than-expected wait, the latest news confirms the release date for And Just Like That season 3. The popular Sex and the City continuation is now slated to return on Max starting on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 9pm EST (via Warner Bros.). The 12-episode season will air each and every Thursday between May 29 and August 14, 2025, when the season finale will drop on Max.

Along with the release date, Max also revealed the first trailer for And Just Like That season 3, and it features an introduction from the main cast. Getting right back into it, the trailer opens with Carrie’s usual flowery language about summer in New York City, before her reverie is interrupted by a torrent of rats invading her garden. The trailer reveals she’s still pining for Aiden, but also catching feelings for a new guy. Meanwhile, Charlotte and Miranda explore the dating scene with mixed results.

On the work front, Carrie begins to dabble in fiction for the first time, and her publisher advises her to try out the ever-popular “Romantasy” genre. Aiden drops by the city to pay a visit to Carrie, and it’s clear that their chemistry goes much deeper than mere attraction. Speaking of which, Charlotte isn’t quite sure how to handle Lily’s sudden affinity for a boy she met from the ballet.

The Long Wait Is Finally Over

It was promised from the outset that there would be a long wait for And Just Like That season 3, and the spinoff certainly kept that promise. Delayed by the 2023 Hollywood strikes, the series wasn’t able to go into production until 2024, but fortunately has now set a release date. And Just Like That season 3 is now scheduled to premiere on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 9pm EST on Max. The 12-episode season will air new episodes every Thursday until the season finale on August 14.

The New & Returning Faces Of Season 3

Because the main cast all came back for season 2, it was always assumed that Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis would return again as Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte respectively. Though Kim Cattrall’s And Just Like That cameo as Samantha was well-received, there’s been no word on her return in season 3. The only known subtraction in the cast is the departure of the controversial Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez), and Karen Pittman will also not return as Dr. Nya Wallace.

Sara Ramirez’s Che Diaz departed season 3 naturally, with her character’s storyline concluding logically during And Just Like That season 2.

Besides a host of returning characters from all corners of the Sex in the City franchise, season 3 of And Just Like That has added a slew of new names too. Comic actor Rosie O’Donnell has joined the cast as Mary, while Law and Order alum Mehcad Brooks is set to play an unknown character. Jonathan Cake and Logan Marshall-Green will also play as-yet-unknown characters in season 3, and they’ll be joined by Patti LuPone, whose unnamed character will have a season 3 arc. Kristen Schaal has also been cast in season 3, but nothing is known about her role.
