Dennis Quaid Says ‘Reacher’ Star Alan Ritchson’s ‘War Machine’ Will Be “Wild To Watch”

Alan Ritchson is charging full speed ahead from Reacher to his next action-packed outing, and it sounds like fans are in for a wild ride. According to co-star Dennis Quaid, War Machine—a new Netflix sci-fi thriller directed by The Expendables 3’s Patrick Hughes—puts Ritchson through the wringer, both figuratively and literally. War Machine, which Hughes co-wrote with James Beaufort, follows “the final recruits of a grueling special ops boot camp who encounter a deadly force from beyond this world.” The film doesn’t yet have a release date, but it’s expected to arrive on Netflix later this year.
Ritchson has been hyping the film since production wrapped, previously calling it: “I think, and you heard it here first, probably gonna be the, no, not probably, gonna be the biggest movie that Netflix has ever had.. This is the coolest thing they’ve ever made, guaranteed.”
“I had a blast down there in Australia for a couple of weeks,” Quaid told MovieWeb while promoting his upcoming western drama Broke. “It was great, because I got to play the general and I never got my uniform dirty at all. Wonderful. Alan was up to his chest in mud. He’s really good in this, and it’s going to be wild to watch.”
What Else Are Dennis Quaid and Alan Ritchson Making?
Ritchson has a ton of stuff coming out, cementing his reputation as one of the most in-demand stars in Hollywood. Alongside War Machine, he will obviously return for the fourth season of Reacher as well as appearing in its spin-off, Neagley, alongside Maria Sten. Currently, Ritchson is filming the action thriller Runner alongside Owen Wilson, which is directed by Scott Waugh. And this October, he will star in the Amazon MGM holiday action-comedy The Man With The Bag as a petty thief enlisted by Santa Claus (Arnold Schwarzenegger) to recover stolen presents. Well, we all resort to that kind of thing during the holiday season, let’s be honest.
As for Quaid, he’s also riding a wave of momentum, coming off Happy Face on Paramount+ and heading into Brokeopposite Wyatt Russell and Tom Skerritt, premiering May 6. He also stars in the upcoming thriller Sovereign alongside Nick Offerman and Jacob Tremblay, which hits theatres in June.
War Machine will release on Netflix at some point later this year. Stay tuned to Collider for the latest updates on both Dennis Quaid and Alan Ritchson.
