Chaos Theory Season 4 If It Brought Back The Show’s Best Dinosaur That’s Been Missing For 2 Seasons

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory keeps going from strength to strength, with the Netflix show’s third season introducing some of its best dinosaurs yet. But the series has been without its best dinosaur of all since the end of season 1. Bumpy the Ankylosaurus is an irreplaceable dino companion to Ben Pincus and the rest of the Nublar Six, who are integral to the foundations of Chaos Theory and its forerunner Camp Cretaceous. It’s high time the show brought Bumpy back into the picture, especially after Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 3’s ending.
Without Bumpy, the Nublar Six wouldn’t have grown into the fearless dinosaur protectors they are. From the moment she was born, the Ankylosaurus taught them how to care for dinosaurs, while building an unbreakable bond with Ben to bring him out of his shell and help him overcome anxiety. More than in any human, Ben found a loyal friend in Bumpy, who provided him with the love he needed to grow in confidence. These qualities made Bumpy central to many episodes, which rank among Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous’ best, whereas she’s been underused in Chaos Theory so far.
Bumpy Is Still The Best Dinosaur In Jurassic World: Chaos Theory
She’s The Closest A Dinosaur Comes To Being A Main Character In The Show
There have been plenty of exciting new dinosaurs introduced in Camp Cretaceous’ follow-up series so far, not least the Pyroraptor of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory’s season 3. It also must be said that Bumpy was far from the coolest dinosaur in Camp Cretaceous itself. On the other hand, this adorable Ankylosaurus is the closest thing any of the show’s dinosaurs have come to an anthropomorphic main character, who demonstrates a profound emotional attachment to the Nublar Six that goes back almost a decade.
Even compared with Chaos Theory’s cutest subplot, the hatching of Bumpy’s baby Smoothie and his introduction to the Nublar Six, the genuine jeopardy in which Bumpy herself is placed in the show’s first season is genuinely heart-wrenching. Bumpy is effectively an honorary member of the group herself and has been with them since the very beginning of their story. It’s agonizing, then, to see her captured and spirited away by dinosaur smugglers, with her fate left hanging in the balance.

At the same time, the moment when Bumpy lays the egg from which Smoothie hatches, bringing some of the Nublar Six to tears, is one of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory’s best. As a rule, the more Bumpy a Jurassic World animated series includes, the better it is.
Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Hasn’t Featured Bumpy Since Season 1
It’s Been 2 Seasons Since Bumpy Was Reunited With The Nublar Six
However, Bumpy herself hasn’t actually featured in the show since the end of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory season 1. Her capture by dinosaur handlers who initially appear to be from the Department of Prehistoric Wildlife (DPW) and transportation to a mystery warehouse marks the start of her imprisonment by dinosaur smugglers, who we learn are holding her captive in Biosyn Valley at the end of season 3.
In season 2, the focus shifts from the Nublar Six’s attempts to save Bumpy to the rescuing and protection of her egg. When the egg hatches in season 3, Smoothie provides the same adorable distraction from Chaos Theory’s dinosaur scares that Bumpy herself provided in the early episodes of Camp Cretaceous. The parallel is a nice full-circle story arc within Jurassic World: Chaos Theory that reminds us just how important Bumpy is to the animated division of the Jurassic franchise.
Bumpy Has To Return For Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 4
She’s Set To Play A Major Role In The Season’s Main Plot
It’s been too long since we saw the Nublar Six reunited with Bumpy herself, though, and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory has to bring her back into the fold sooner rather than later. It’d be tempting for the show to keep us waiting until the final episode of its fourth season to see Bumpy again, but it shouldn’t make this mistake. As well as ensuring that Chaos Theory season 4 avoids introducing too many characters from Jurassic World Dominion, the show should put Bumpy at the forefront of the season, as the ending of season 3 implies that she will be.

Nublar Six members Kenji Kon and Sammy Gutierrez have already set off on a quest to rescue Bumpy and introduce her to her baby, Smoothie. The last scene of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory’s most recent episode shows them overlooking the location where their old friend is being held. It’s to be hoped that this ending sets up Bumpy’s return in the very first episode of season 4, although her escape might be a key plotline that spans the entire season. In any case, fans of the show have spent enough time waiting for Bumpy to reappear, and it’s time we got her back.
