The Andor season 2 panel kicked off Day 2 of Star Wars Celebration 2025, and the cast and crew dropped some new reveals ahead of the premiere. A stark departure in tone and structure from other Star Wars projects, Andor season 1 was praised by fans and critics alike for its excellent production values, top-notch writing, and brilliant performances. After nearly three years of waiting, fans are only a few days away from experiencing the long-awaited final season.

However, in a stunning turn of events, fans in attendance were treated to a screening of the Andor season 2 premiere, including our own ScreenRant editors in the audience. Although we now have all the details on episode 1, we’ve decided not to spoil it before you all have a chance to watch it in full on Disney+. Still, we can share some exciting new details to get viewers even more excited over the next few days.

Mon Mothma Steps Out Of The Shadows For Andor Season 2

She will go to dark places and have to risk everything

Mon Mothma Perrin and Luthen in Andor Season 2

Genevieve O’Reilly, who portrayed Mon Mothma in Andor season 1 and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, gave an overview of her character’s trajectory at the start of season 2:

We start in Chandrila, which is Mon Mothma’s ancestral home. We start with a wedding and all the complications that brings, and then we drive and we reach… We go to some dark places this season, and so she must step out of the shadows and risk everything to speak some truth.

Starting the season with a wedding is unexpected yet logical, providing a reason for multiple characters to appear in one location. Perhaps this is the wedding of Mon Mothma’s daughter, Leida, after her mother made the impossible decision of arranging her daughter’s marriage to protect the Rebellion. If that’s the case, then this is a dark place to begin Mon’s story, facing the reality of putting her daughter through the same customs that hurt her in many ways.

Bix Caleen Must Rebuild In Andor Season 2

She and Cassian will come together

Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen and Diego Luna as Cassian Andor in Andor season 2

Fans also got to hear from Bix Caleen’s actor, Adria Arjona, about where she begins the season and how her arc connects to Cassian’s:

When we first meet [Bix] in season 2, she’s left her home. I believe Bix is the most Ferrixian woman there is. She’s really trying to reconstruct herself. I think this season, you’ll really get to see these two characters (Cassian and Bix) come together, and it’s probably one of my favorite parts.

Bix struggling to reconstruct her life, even after a year, is heartbreaking, but it makes sense after what she went through in season 1. She went through unimaginable torture while in Imperial custody, so it will be interesting to see how her character overcomes this and what role she’ll play in the season. However, Arjona ends on a high note by implying that Bix and Cassian may become a couple again.

Dedra Meero Faces Her Past As Things Get Strange In Andor Season 2

She will step up as the story gets darker

Dedra Meero at an Imperial meeting in Andor

In addition to our favorite rebels, we also got to hear from Denise Gough, who returns as Dedra Meero in Andor season 2:

We find out about where Dedra comes from this season […] things get really strange. Dedra really shows herself. It was much darker this season, it wasn’t so girlboss, it was much more fascist.

As one of the most ruthless and cunning Imperials in Andor season 1, learning more about what made Dedra the way she is sounds incredibly exciting. It also seems she will fully transition from a more relatable character trying to prove herself to full-on villainy, and there’s no telling what that may entail.

K-2SO Will Be Born And Meet Cassian In Andor Season 2

The beginning of a now iconic duo

K-2SO walking forward in Andor season 2

Finally, Alan Tudyk spoke about returning to play the fan-favorite droid K-2S0 and how exciting his origin will be:

We get to see how our two characters meet, and the birth of K-2SO. It was very exciting to do, to be born. It’s beyond.

Cassian Andor actor Diego Luna also chipped in on the matter:

I’m not gonna talk about how he gets born, but it was nice to witness that.

Of course, we have seen a version of how they met in Star Wars: Rogue One – Cassian & K-2SO Special #1, but Andor season 2 will likely present its own take on this first interaction. It’s also worth noting how both actors refer to K-2SO being “born” rather than simply reprogrammed. However it plays out, the cast of Andor season 2 have given plenty of details at Star Wars Celebration 2025 to pique our curiosity ahead of the premiere.

The first three episodes of Andor season 2 premiere April 22, 2025 on Disney+.
