‘Below Deck Down Under’ Star in Hot Water After Shocking Behavior With Guests

Drinking on a Below Deck charter is usually a fireable offense, so did new Deckhand Nicolas Cattelan walk the Below Deck Down Under plank for doing a tequila shot with the guests?
Thankfully for Nic, Captain Jason Chambers respected that Nic told him he did the tequila shot, but now the deckhand is on his radar. Nicolas didn’t realize that taking a quick tequila shot with the guest could get him fired until Stew Brianna Duffield reminded him, “We can’t drink on charter.”
That’s when fear set in. “I’m so stupid,” Nicolas said, shaking his head in a confessional. “This could get me fired.” Nicolas is correct – drinking on charter can get you fired. So why wasn’t he? Aside from the fact that he was the new replacement for one of two fired crew members, Captain Jason respected how Nicolas came clean about the booze.
Why Didn’t Captain Jason Fire Nicolas on ‘Below Deck Down Under’?
The nervous deckhand, – who, let’s be perfectly honest, is a Henry Golding lookalike – requested a meeting with Captain Jason to discuss the incident. He appeared shaken as he recounted what happened, essentially prepared for Captain Jason to lower the boom.
“It’s an issue,” Captain Jason told Nicolas. “First charter, all that?” Nic remained remorseful, agreeing with Captain Jason that it was a bad decision. “But coming to me that way, this is exactly what I’d want out of someone,” Captain Jason said. “So I think we could probably put this to bed.”
Relieved, Nicolas assured Captain Jason, “This won’t happen again. This isn’t a normal thing for me, and I’m very sorry,” he said. Captain Jason replied, “Sounds like you learned a lesson already.”
Deckhand Nicolas Tells Everybody on ‘Below Deck Down Under’ That He Wasn’t Fired
Nicolas let out a sigh of relief in a confessional following his meeting with Captain Jason. “It’s a big weight off the shoulders,” he said. “Thanks Jason.” Captain Jason sent the deckhand back to work. But, perhaps out of pure relief, Nicolas felt the need to recount to each crew member what he did and that he wasn’t fired, but the deck team seemed pretty underwhelmed.
“Nic, I could see the fear in his eyes, I don’t think he’ll be making any mistakes like that again,” new Bosun Nate Salmon said in a confessional. Of course, as the primary left the boat, she said, in front of the entire crew, “Nic needs to work on his beer pong skills!” Yikes.

Of course, Nicolas got the disco ball helmet after the tip meeting. “Nic got the helmet today because of his own admission; he had a shot last night with a charter guest,” Captain Jason explained to the crew. “He didn’t know the boundaries, but he came to me straight away and told me. So being up front, being honest, and being remorseful can get you anywhere you wanna go in life.”
Deckhand Harry Van Vliet observed that Nicolas is an “Interesting character. He says everything so proper, he’d be a great politician.”
Is a ‘Below Deck Down Under’ Boatmance Brewing for Nicolas and Marina?
The general consensus among the crew is that Nicolas is a bit of a nerd, something that is a real turn-on for Stew Marina Marcondes. The pair initially connected in the crew mess. “Marina’s adorable,” Nic mused in a confessional. “Growing up I did not approach women. I mean, my first kiss was at 19. I often say thank God for feminism because then they ask me out a couple of times.”
Later during the crew night out, the budding lovebirds sat next to each other at dinner, and Nic remarked that Marina swinging her feet under the table was “adorable.” But after dinner the crush got crushed when Nic went for it and kissed Marina as they danced at a club after dinner. So not only did Nicolas avoid getting fired, he just started a boatmance!
Below Deck Down Under is on Monday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
